Job Summary: Reporting to the Quality Manger, the Quality Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and analyzing trends and performance of Quality Assurance protocols in the Valve Business Unit, for legacy products and new design engagements. The Quality Engineer will plan, implement, and manage adherence of manufacturing and production processes with internal and external quality and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Monitor and Analyze
- Conduct root cause analysis on quality issues using defect data and structured methods.
- Function as a technical resource in deviations, defect analysis, complaints, establishing sampling plans, assessments, and protocol.
- Generate inspection data for customers; as required (AS9102 FAI, PPAP, etc.).
- Lead containment efforts of non-conforming material.
- Participate in the internal drawing review (ECN Process).
Strategy and Process Development
- Define and develop SOPs and process controls for various functions in the operation.
- Develop key performance indicators, analyze trends and implement improvements.
- Develop, lead, and evaluate non-conforming material(s) and part(s) while implementing Corrective Actions; as required, for both internal and external requirements.
Communication and Collaboration
- Support the Quality Inspectors.
- Support Manufacturing to maintain delivery schedule, resolve issues and implement continuous improvements.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, to resolve complex issues.
Compliance
- Participate and support Internal Audits.
- Participate in audits and onboarding of Suppliers/Contract Service Providers.
- Support contract review activities, specifically understanding quality requirements.
- Represent the Quality Team during Customer Visits and Audits hosted onsite.
Systems and Functions
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) based on AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- Evaluate Customer Return Material (RMA) and collaborate with Engineering, to determine RCCA of field failures and post-delivery issues.
- Manage activities and timelines associated with supporting new business, R&D, and continuous improvement objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related discipline required.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience with measuring equipment; CMM, comparator, and hand tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.).
- Experience and understanding of Machining.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, specifications and standards.
- Experience with Quality System and Process Auditing.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- ASQ Certifications - preferred.
- Lean/Six Sigma training is a plus.
