Job summary

Aptiv’s Antaya division is seeking a Quality Engineer to develop and maintain quality requirements for development and manufacturing products.

You will perform root-cause analysis, drive corrective actions, and act as the primary QA resource for problem identification and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or closely related field.
• Minimum of three years of quality control experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).
• Familiar with process control quality tools.
• Familiar with statistical control methods in problem solving.
• Background in recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP).
• Ability to read and write technical reports and programs.
• Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes.
• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop, apply and maintain quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing products.

• Serve as the primary quality assurance resource to department supervisors for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
• Serve as a customer liaison for customer complaints.
• Support concurrent engineering by participating in design development projects representing QA and the customer.
• Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
• Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.
• Perform containment and certification activities.
• Review customers purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure quality criteria.
• Develop, execute and analyze quality reporting measures.
• Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
• Assist in training equipment operators or staff on validation protocols and SOPs.
• Review supplier purchase orders and establish supplier quality requirements.
• Perform internal quality system, manufacturing process, and product audits.
• Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning QA problems and corrective action.
• May compile, write and deliver training material on quality standards.
• Review trends and industry standards to stay abreast of quality control issues.
• Participate in training programs to maintain validation knowledge.
• Understand automotive industry requirements and tools such as IATF 16949 and Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA).

In your daily job you will:

• Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
• May compile, write and deliver training material on quality standards and activities.
• Review statistical studies, technological advances, or regulatory standards and industry trends to stay abreast of issues in the field of quality control.
• Participate in internal and external training programs to maintain knowledge of validation principles.
• Required to have an understanding and working knowledge of automotive industry requirements and tools, such as IATF 16949, and Core Tools, APQP, FMEA, MSA, etc.

YOUR BACKGROUND

• Ability to read and write technical specifications and reports.
• Ability to proficiently use various company-related and external systems and databases.
• Ability to proficiently use computer programs such as Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively with internal/external personnel, customers, and suppliers.
• Ability to proficiently operate office technology and equipment (e.g., computer systems).
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet time sensitive deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Manufacturing Engineering; or closely related technical field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of quality control experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in the automotive industry.
• Familiar with process control quality tools.
• Familiar with statistical control methods in problem solving.
• Must have a background and expertise in recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance (i.e., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP).
• Must have the ability to read and write technical reports and programs.
• Must have an understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes.
• Must be detail-oriented and have excellent analytical skills.
• Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
• Must be proficient with computers and demonstrated skills in office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) highly preferred.

TRAVEL

• Overnight domestic travel based on customer need (20%).
• Some international travel may be required (less than 10%).

Salary Range: $90k - $120k As a candidate for this position, your salary and will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Aptiv considers relevant to the hiring decision.
