Responsibilities

  • Perform or coordinate incoming material receiving checks such as visual inspection and documentation review.
  • Document and isolate nonconforming material and coordinate containment with Quality Manager.
  • Perform production in-process inspections at defined build checkpoints.
  • Verify production panel builds meet drawings, BOM, wiring diagrams, labels, and process work instructions.
  • Check workmanship standards including wire routing, termination quality, gauge, and labeling.
  • Identify and document nonconformances and coordinate corrective actions with Quality and Production Managers.
  • Conduct or oversee final panel inspections and release verification before shipment.
  • Confirm compliance with customer requirements and applicable standards.
  • Review and verify completion of test documentation and traveler completion.

Position Summary

The Quality Engineer ensures electrical panels and their components are built and assembled correctly by performing Incoming Inspections, supporting In-Process Inspections, and completing Final Inspections. This role prevents defects by verifying workmanship, documentation, and test readiness—then drives root-cause analysis and corrective actions when nonconformances are found. Provide leadership support and guidance to quality technicians, mentoring them in inspection techniques, non-conformance documentation, and adherence to quality procedures and processes.

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform or coordinate incoming material receiving checks such as visual inspection and documentation review.
  • Document and isolate nonconforming material and coordinate containment with Quality Manager.
  • Perform production in-process inspections at defined build checkpoints (e.g., after wiring steps, prior to enclosure close-up, before final steps).
  • Verify production panel builds meetdrawings,BOM,wiring diagrams,labels, andprocess work instructions.
  • Check workmanship standards including:
    • Proper wire routing and termination quality
    • Correct wire type/gauge and termination method
    • Proper torque application (as applicable)
    • Correct identification/labeling (wires, terminals, components, nameplates)
    • Cleanliness and proper insulation management
  • Identify and document nonconformances. Immediately communicate with Quality and Production Managers to ensure containment and corrective action steps are applied.
  • Conduct or oversee final panel inspections and release verification steps before shipment.
  • Confirm compliance with customer requirements and applicable standards.

  • Review and verify completion of:
    • Test documentation (functional/continuity)
    • Inspection checklists and traveler completion
    • Documentation package – Final labeling/nameplate accuracy and panel readiness for shipment
  • Partner with receiving, production, procurement, and engineering to resolve quality concern issues quickly.
  • Recommend updates to inspection plans, work instructions, and training based on recurring findings.
  • Provide leadership support and guidance and guidance to quality auditors, mentoring them in inspection techniques, non-conformance documentation, and adherence to quality procedures and processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing quality working in an electrical assembly / panel build environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience withincoming inspectionand/or supplier quality in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience performingin-process and final inspectionsin panel build environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
    • BOMs/travelers and build documentation
    • Labeling and documentation requirements for panel assemblies
  • Strong understanding of common panel quality issues (workmanship, component verification, labeling, and documentation accuracy).
  • Familiarity with panel testing methods.
  • Support working quality experience with PPAP/FAI/8D’s requirements.
  • Strong documentation accuracy and follow-through.
  • Clear communication and collaboration.
  • Organized problem-solving skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
