Job summary

KeyTronic Oakdale, MN facility is seeking a Quality Engineer candidate to support Production and Engineering by eliminating rework and leading internal audits for quality certifications. You will analyze data, review feedback to improve processes, and drive root-cause analysis with corrective actions.

Strong teamwork with program managers and customers is essential. Your role includes implementing process controls, training personnel, and supporting NPI launches to ensure on-time, high-quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or an Associate's degree with 2–3 years experience, or equivalent
  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge (Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments)
  • Experience with Quality Management System
  • Experience using formal problem-solving methodologies (Six Sigma, Kepner Tregoe, RCA, 5 Whys)
  • Ability to read and understand customer drawings/specifications
  • Familiarity with SMT/PTH PWA techniques and automated assembly equipment programming is preferred
  • Understanding of IPC-610, J-STD-001 and ISO 9001 standards or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals

KeyTronic Oakdale, MN facility is seeking a Quality Engineer candidate. Your primary responsibility is to help support Production and Engineering through the elimination of rework. Secondarily, you will be required to lead the internal audit process in support of our various quality certifications. Fulfillment of your primary function is achieved through the analysis of data, review of internal/external customer feedback to improve our processes, discovery of root cause, Corrective and Preventative Action plans, training of personnel and successful NPI (New Product Introduction) launches. You will be a team player working closely with program managers, production personnel as well as internal/external customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)
  • Help with the integration of new products into production via our NPI process by anticipating technical difficulties, review of all customer requirements, identification of risks and detailed review of our electronic instructions. You will be out on the production floor with each new production NPI to obtain feedback and improve the processes, refine documentation and provide training as necessary.
  • Use analytical problem solving skills to discover root cause of quality issues then work with production personnel, engineering, suppliers and/or customers to prevent future repetitive occurrence of problems.
  • Work closely with Production and Engineering in the evaluation/selection of new equipment and/or processes to support items 1 and 2 above. Poke Yoke techniques are highly desired to ensure consistently high quality of product that will be delivered on time to all of our customers.
  • Work on 5S and lean initiatives to ensure that all processes are continually improved.
  • Review quality data provided by Aegis (Manufacturing Database) to look for trends, problem areas then resolve these issues to reduce/eliminate rework.
  • Help develop and maintain effective process controls.
  • Develop and implement process controls that include statistical techniques for identified key characteristics.
  • Help with continuous improvement efforts for manufacturing efficiencies and reduced labor costs.
  • Help improve work instructions/procedures for personnel and equipment to eliminate rework.
  • Assist in training personnel per training schedule and provide training records.
  • Ensure that internal audits are completed on time to help improve our Quality Management System and to maintain our various quality related certifications.
  • Lead meetings with engineering, production, and management to ensure that all teams are working together towards the goal of high quality builds. Must be able to confidently lead a meeting and inspire others to take action.
  • Accept other responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISION GIVEN/RECEIVED

Is supervised by the QA Manager and does have leadership duties such as leading meetings with various departments to ensure cohesion and success in creating high quality builds.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, talk, hear, and see. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or reach with hands and arms. The environment is fast-paced, time pressured, and requires accuracy. The employee will regularly multi-task between projects, be required to move throughout the office building and production floor. Effectively communicate orally and written.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The normal environment is quiet and typical of an open cubical setting with some areas that may be louder at times. The employee occasionally might be near moving mechanical parts and exposed to fumes or airborne particles on the production floor.
