Job summary

Anomatic is seeking a Quality Engineer at our New Albany facility to lead quality in the anodizing and assembly departments. You will develop, maintain, and improve quality systems, drive cross-functional collaboration, and use problem-solving methods to reduce variation and COPQ.

You will supervise daily inspection workflow, train QA inspectors and operators to meet customer standards, gauges, and procedures, and partner with suppliers and customers to ensure sustained product performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related.
  • 2–3 years of experience in the quality field in manufacturing preferred.
  • Practical use of quality systems and continuous improvement methods such as six sigma, lean, DOE, and statistical data analysis.
  • Strong communication across departments and with vendors/customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Approve lots and disposition of non-conforming products.
  • Lead analysis and testing of products and components.
  • Maintain Syteline data collection system and conduct SPC.
  • Drive continuous improvement using DMAIC and Lean.
  • Prepare status reports to Planning, Customer Care, Production and Quality.
  • Ensure calibration and control of gauges and documents.
  • Develop quality standards and defect boards; obtain customer approvals.
  • Interact with suppliers and customers as required.

Position: Quality Engineer

Location: New Albany and Blacklick Ohio

Department: Plastic Injection Molding, Metalizing and Decoration

Reports to: Quality Manager

Shift: Day Shift

Job Summary

The Quality Engineer will act as the quality leader for the anodizing and assembly departments within the New Albany facility and be responsible for the ongoing development, maintenance, and improvement of the quality systems and performance within the assigned production department. The QE will work within a cross functional team to ensure exceptional levels of product performance as well as using problem solving techniques to reduce process variation and cost of non-conformance.

The position will supervise daily inspection workflow for all jobs running in the department, assign work to QA inspectors as well as train all QA inspectors and operators regarding customer quality standards, gauging plans, and inspection procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Makes decisions regarding acceptability of lots and disposition of held products or any non-conforming materials.
  • Lead the analysis and testing process of products and components.
  • Create new and maintain existing Syteline data collection system for all dimensional and aesthetic tests. Also conduct SPC through use of Syteline data and train required personnel in usage.
  • Champion of continuous improvement through the use of DMAIC and Lean methods to reduce process variation and cost of non-conformance.
  • Gives status reports to all departments at Anomatic, including Planning / Scheduling, Customer Care, Production and Quality as necessary.
  • Responsibility for set-up approval and communication on all dimensional and aesthetic issues with supplying departments/vendors (new jobs or new production runs).
  • Ensures proper instrument calibration, gauge control and document control systems.
  • Create new and maintain department quality standards and inspection record files. Develop defect standard boards for aesthetic defects and gain customer approvals.
  • Interaction with suppliers and customers as required.
  • Develop SOP’s, conduct quality systems audits and perform training of quality procedures and skills as required.
  • Advanced knowledge of SPC, Process Capability (Cp/Cpk/Pp/Ppk), MSA (Gage R&R, Bias, Linearity, Stability), DOE, APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Charts, and statistical analysis using Minitab or equivalent software to analyze manufacturing performance and drive process improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading root cause investigations (8D, A3, 5 Why, Fishbone), supporting ISO 9001 quality systems and internal audits, analyzing manufacturing data, and leading cross-functional initiatives that reduce process variation, scrap, rework, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment with 2 to 3 years of experience within the quality field preferred
  • Demonstrated practical use of quality systems and continuous improvement methods such as six sigma, lean, DOE, statistical data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate within the department, with other departments, and externally with vendors or customers as appropriate.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team to meet personal and departmental objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage hourly associates and build collaborative working relationships within the quality department and between functions
  • Ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced work environment; must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong process orientated problem-solving skills to identify root causes and lead teams to implement counter measures.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft office suite, statistical data analysis software such as Minitab and ERP systems.
