Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking a Quality Engineer for the Louisiana Bridge Builders project based in Lake Charles, LA. You will coordinate, document, and report quality activities, ensuring inspection and testing documentation is filed and ITPs are maintained.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent with extensive experience), 3+ years in quality on Design-Build or construction, ISO 9001 knowledge, and ability to work with subcontractors and digital quality tools; travel and field inspections

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 3+ years of quality experience, or a high school diploma with 7+ years of quality experience.
• Experience with Design-Build projects and/or construction preferred.
• ISO 9001 quality management system knowledge required.
• Experience with quality management and quality control digital tools is valued.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all inspection and testing documentation is completed and filed.

• Verify hold points, witness points, and acceptance criteria per specifications.
• Perform routine field inspections to ensure compliance with drawings, specs and work plans.
• Assist in ensuring quality requirements are implemented by subcontractors.
• Compile reports detailing quality performance, trends, and corrective actions.
• Contribute to digitalization of quality records and daily contractor activity reports.
• Report quality issues and track nonconformances; support improvements to procedures and work plans.
• Perform off-site quality inspections at owners/suppliers/manufacturer yards as needed.

The Quality Engineer is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by coordinating, documenting, and reporting quality activities for the Project.

Job Description

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure all inspection and testing documentation is accurately completed and filed.
• Monitor and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for construction activities.
• Verify that required hold points, witness points, and acceptance criteria are followed in accordance with specifications.
• Perform routine field inspections to verify construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and work plans.
• Assist in ensuring that quality requirements are implemented by subcontractors.
• Compile comprehensive reports detailing quality performance, highlighting trends, and suggesting corrective actions and lessons learned.
• Collaborate in the digitalization of quality records.
• Monitor, verify and generate daily reports on the progress and performance of contractor activities.
• Maintaining an active role in providing relevant information to continually improve procedures, Work Plans, and QC efforts.
• Performing the off-site quality inspections at the Owners/suppliers/manufacturer’s yard/shop as needed.
• Participating in the analysis of corrective and preventive actions and, in general, identifying and recording any incidents related to the Quality Plans and Quality Procedures.
• Reporting quality issues associated with the construction and track deficiencies/nonconformances.
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Competencies

At a minimum, the Quality Engineer must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study along with 3+ years of related quality experience or high school diploma, or equivalent, along with 7+ years of related quality experience. Experience working with Design-Build projects and/or the construction industry is preferred. Must possess a current and valid driver’s license.

Knowledge and experience in the implementation of the ISO 9001 standard on Quality Management System is required. Experience in implementing quality management and quality control digital tools will be valued.
