Job summary

Wabtec in Lexington, TN is seeking a Quality professional to provide services and support to internal/external customers and suppliers, ensuring materials, processes and products meet specifications.

The role primarily operates from Lexington with collaboration across Jackson, TN facilities, reporting to the Quality Leader.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; 2–5 years related experience or training.

Responsibilities

  • Frequent daily face-to-face interaction with employees in an operations environment.
  • Support Quality Technicians, Receiving Inspectors and Quality Operators.
  • Support Quality Lab activities.
  • Create periodic quality reports.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineering to improve products and processes.
  • Troubleshoot root causes of scrap and customer complaints.
  • Investigate field customer complaints as required.
  • Lead supplier quality processes at BU level and resolve supplier quality issues.
  • Travel to perform supplier quality audits and investigations.
  • Engage in Supplier Development and Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Manage onboarding processes for new suppliers.
  • Manage supplier SCARs and back charges.
  • Ensure controls for transfer of parts between suppliers.
  • Assist in corrective actions and CAR process.
  • Develop and maintain process control plans.
  • Support Customer PPAP process.
  • Apply SPC techniques to manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Support Process/Product Audit Compliance.
  • Identify and execute Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Support Six Sigma activities.
  • Maintain Document Control processes.

Who will you be working with?

Our Wabtec Young Touchstone team combines knowledge of our customers’ product platforms/processes with industry expertise to deliver unparalleled product solutions. Here you’ll interact daily with all support team functions to solve problems and will partner with other key stakeholders to support our customers and their operations.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Heat Transfer & Energy Solutions group Quality team, you will be responsible for providing services and support to internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure materials, processes and products meet or exceed specifications. This position will primarily be in Lexington, TN, but will support both Young Touchstone business facilities located in Lexington and Jackson Tennessee respectively. The role reports directly to the Quality Leader.

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

What will your typical day look like?
  • Frequent daily face-to-face interaction with employees in an operations environment
  • Support Quality Technicians, Receiving Inspectors and Quality Operators
  • Support Quality Lab activities
  • Create periodic quality reports
  • Work with design and manufacturing engineering in the improvement of product and processes
  • Troubleshoot root causes of scrap and customer complaints
  • Investigate customer complaints in the field as required
  • Lead our Supplier Quality Process at the BU level. Investigating and solving supplier quality issues
  • Travel as needed perform supplier quality audits and to investigate supplier quality issues
  • Engage in Supplier Development and Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Manage onboarding processes for new suppliers
  • Manage supplier SCARs and associated back charges
  • Ensure controls are in place for transfer of parts between suppliers
  • Assist in the development of corrective actions and support CAR process
  • Assist in developing and maintaining process control plans
  • Support Customer PPAP process
  • Identifies and applies SPC Techniques to manufacturing and quality processes (where appropriate)
  • Support Process/Product Audit Compliance process

The salary rate for this role is currently $68900-98200 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
