Job summary

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking a Quality Engineer in the Engineering Department in Kinston, NC. You will work on highly engineered aircraft components through design, manufacturing and support stages.

Responsibilities include developing quality processes, performing root cause analyses, PFMEA collaboration, and maintaining quality system integrity while interfacing with suppliers, customers and regulators. Excellent English communication and RCCA proficiency are required.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
  • 3–5 years of experience in aerospace/quality/engineering or related role.
  • Proficiency in RCCA and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English.

Job description

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is recruiting a Quality Engineer in the Engineering Department located in Kinston, NC. The role involves working on highly engineered aircraft components throughout the product life cycle, from design to manufacturing and support.

Responsibilities
  • Develop processes, systems, and equipment to uphold quality, reliability, and safety standards for company or procured products and services.
  • Perform root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions to eliminate nonconformance to design specifications.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and control plans.
  • Review and analyze quality system design to ensure integrity of decisions impacting products and services.
  • Analyze contractual, product definition, and specification requirements to develop or modify methods, procedures, and metrics for achieving quality standards.
  • Evaluate and determine dispositions for nonconforming materials, parts, and equipment.
  • Conduct scientific evaluations, audits, and analyses.
  • Test and approve products, processes, equipment, and measurement systems.
  • Ensure processes incorporate configuration management and participate in design and product reviews to meet quality, reliability, safety, and business objectives.
  • Conduct research, benchmarking, and analysis to improve process capability and product quality.
  • Support corrective action implementation to address nonconformance issues.
  • Interface with employees, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Utilize statistical methodologies to maintain or enhance safety, reliability, and process capability levels.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • 3–5 years of experience in aerospace, quality, engineering, or related role.
  • Proficiency in technical writing.
  • Proficient in root cause corrective action (RCCA).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues to others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and enthusiasm for industrial assets and technologies.
  • Interest in composite technologies.
Physical Requirements
  • Onsite: 100 %
  • Vision: Able to read computer screens, documents, and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Able to participate in conversations and hear sounds on the production floor.
  • Speaking: Able to speak in conversations and meetings.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate office and some production tools including a hydraulic lift.
  • Carrying: Able to carry up to 30 lbs weekly.
  • Lifting/Push/Pull: Able to lift, push, and pull items up to 30 lbs weekly.
  • Sitting: Able to sit for long periods.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel weekly.
  • Standing: Able to stand during discussions.
  • Travel: 5 % ability to travel independently at short notice.
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
  • PPE: Required workplace safety equipment.
