Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead QA initiatives across solar module manufacturing. You will ensure product quality from incoming materials to final inspection and drive continuous improvement using LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, 5 years in quality, and strong analytical skills. Travel to client sites and suppliers is expected, with a focus on maintaining compliance with ISO/IEC standards.

  • Five years of quality engineering/QA experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of ISO, IEC standards and QMS tools.
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Strong root-cause analysis and corrective action capability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee QC activities in solar module manufacturing from incoming materials to final inspection.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain QA programs, SOPs, and QC plans.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain on supplier quality improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IEC standards.
  • Train manufacturing personnel on quality standards and best practices.
  • Travel 10–20% to client installations and supplier sites.

Description

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for quality assurance initiatives, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvement in our manufacturing processes to deliver high-quality solar modules to our customers.

Requirements
  • Oversee quality control activities throughout the solar module manufacturing process, including incoming materials inspection, in-process quality checks, and final product inspection. Develop and implement inspection protocols, standards, and procedures to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action investigations to identify the underlying causes of quality issues, defects, or deviations in manufacturing processes. Implement corrective and preventive actions to address identified issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance programs and processes in alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company objectives.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to evaluate supplier quality performance, conduct supplier audits, and implement supplier quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure that supplier products and materials meet specified quality standards and specifications.
  • Collaborate with all departments and drives LEAN Operating principles to continuously improve quality and enhance customer satisfaction through entire value chain.
  • Work with continuous improvement efforts to enhance manufacturing processes, optimize production efficiency, and minimize waste while maintaining product quality and reliability. Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodologies, statistical analysis, and process optimization techniques to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintains quality documentation, including quality control plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality records. Generates quality reports and metrics to track key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor quality trends, and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IEC standards) governing solar module manufacturing. Stay informed about changes in regulations and standards and implement necessary updates to maintain compliance.
  • Provide training and guidance to manufacturing personnel on quality standards, procedures, and best practices. Foster a culture of quality awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Occasional travel to client installations and suppliers manufacturing locations required for inspection of products and raw materials, approximately 10-20%.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, Quality Management, or related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g. Certified Quality Engineer) preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience in quality engineering or quality assurance roles preferably within the manufacturing industry.
  • Deep understanding of solar module manufacturing processes, materials, and technologies.
  • Solid proficiency in quality management systems (QMS), statistical process control (SPC), and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
  • Experience in supplier quality management, including supplier evaluation, audits, and improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing systems and connection to Quality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality results and driving continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications governing solar module manufacturing processes.
