Job summary

Bridgewater Interiors III in Alabama seeks a Quality Engineer to ensure ISO/TS 16949/IATF compliance, drive continuous improvement, and manage PPAP, PFMEA, and 8D processes. You will lead LPA, develop control plans, and act as the main liaison with customers while coordinating with manufacturing to meet KPIs. The role requires 3+ years in quality or related automotive field and 2+ years in automotive experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 3+ years in Quality Engineering or related role.
  • At least 2 years automotive industry experience.
  • Seating experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with BOS, ISO/TS 16949, IATF requirements and customer standards.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet KPIs and targets.
  • Lead Layered Process Audits (LPA) as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement across production quality deliverables.
  • Support PPAP submission and internal approvals before customer submission.
  • Develop and maintain Control Plans, PFMEA (with Mfg Eng support), inspection and containment plans.
  • Complete APQP requirements for customers.
  • Serve as primary contact for assigned customers on quality concerns.
  • Communicate between customers and plant operations; visit sites as needed.
  • Lead 8D problem solving and prepare 8D reports for customers.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with BOS, ISO/TS 16949, IATF requirements, and custom‑specific standards.
  • Understand plant and customer KPIs and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet or exceed targets.
  • Participate in Layered Process Audits (LPA) as required.
Continuous Improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement across all production quality deliverables.
  • Support advancement of Operation Description Sheets (ODS).
  • Identify and apply appropriate statistical tools; mentor team members on their proper use.
Advanced Quality Planning & Documentation
  • Support PPAP preparation and submission.
  • Obtain internal approvals prior to customer submission.
  • Develop and maintain:
    • Control Plans
    • PFMEA (with Manufacturing Engineering support)
    • Inspection and containment plans
  • Complete all customer‑specific Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) requirements.
Customer Interface & Issue Resolution
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers regarding quality concerns.
  • Communicate effectively between customers and plant operations.
  • Visit customer sites as needed.
  • Initiate and manage Quality Alerts through closure.
  • Analyze returned materials and ensure root cause identification and corrective action implementation.
Problem Solving & Corrective Actions
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes.
  • Prepare and submit 8D reports to customers in a timely manner.
  • Conduct capability studies and ensure compliance with customer and internal requirements.
Supplier & Quality Documentation
  • Ensure proper preparation and submission of required documentation, including:
    • Part Submission Warrant (PSW)
    • Design records (drawings, specifications, materials)
    • Process flow diagrams
    • PFMEA
    • Control plans
    • Dimensional results and sample submissions
Systems & Tools
  • Utilize customer‑specific systems and reporting tools.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for quality processes.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a Quality Engineering or related role.
  • At least 2 years of automotive industry experience required.
  • Seating experience is a strong plus.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of ISO/TS 16949 / IATF standards.
  • Proficiency in PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans.
  • 8D problem‑solving methodology.
  • Continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally and manage customer relationships.
Certifications (Preferred)
  • Lean Certification.
  • Problem‑Solving Certification.
  • Kaizen Certification.
Work Schedule
  • 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM.
