Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company in the United States is seeking a Quality Engineer – Plant Operations to ensure the manufacturing quality of data-center chillers. This on‑the‑floor role requires hands‑on involvement with production teams to resolve issues and implement improvements.

You will monitor processes, perform RCCA analyses for nonconformances, develop quality control plans, and conduct audits to mitigate risks while driving Six Sigma and SPC initiatives.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of quality engineering experience in manufacturing (HVAC/refrigeration or similar)
• Proven problem‑solving with RCCA/8D, FMEA, Six Sigma
• Knowledge of QMS and ISO 9001 compliance
• Familiarity with GD&T, measurement tools, and blueprint interpretation
• Hands‑on experience with welding/brazing/assembly/testing

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate production to ensure quality standards
• Conduct RCCA for non-conformances and customer complaints
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain to improve quality and efficiency
• Develop and implement quality control plans, inspection procedures, and testing protocols

Position Description

The Quality Engineer – Plant Operations will play a key role in ensuring the manufacturing quality of chillers for data centers by monitoring, analyzing, and improving production processes. This is an on-the-floor role that requires hands‑on involvement in daily plant operations, working closely with production teams to resolve quality issues, implement process improvements, and maintain compliance with industry standards. The Quality Engineer will use problem‑solving methodologies to drive continuous improvement, reduce defects, and enhance overall product reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
• Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA) for non-conformances and customer complaints.
• Work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to improve product quality and process efficiency.
• Develop and implement quality control plans, inspection procedures, and testing protocols.
• Perform audits of manufacturing processes to identify and resolve potential quality risks.
• Support the introduction of new products by validating quality requirements and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Train production personnel on quality best practices, including effect prevention and problem-solving techniques.
• Use statistical analysis and data-driven methodologies (such as Six-Sigma, SPC) to improve manufacturing quality.
• Maintain accurate records and reports related to quality metrics, defects, and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with ISO, ASHRAE, and other relevant industry and regulatory standards.

Required Education & Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in HVAC, refrigeration, or industrial equipment production or strong co‑op/internship experience in manufacturing.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and experience with tools such as 8D, FMEA, RCCA, and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and experience with ISO 9001 compliance.
• Familiarity with measurement tools, GD&T, and blueprint interpretation.
• Hands‑on experience with manufacturing processes such as welding, brazing, assembly, and testing.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software (i.e. Minitab, Excel, or similar).
• Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, on‑the‑floor manufacturing environment.

The salary range for this position is estimated in good faith to be $90k-$110k. The specific offer will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and other job-related considerations but will be within the stated range.
