Job summary

Hunter Douglas in Bradenton, FL is seeking a Quality Engineer to identify and track quality issues, lead improvement projects, and ensure robust quality systems across the plant.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in engineering, statistics, math or business.
  • 5+ years as a Quality Engineer in a Manufacturing Environment.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt (or capable of becoming certified).
  • Quality Systems development/auditing experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and mentoring abilities.
  • Willing to travel and lead cross-divisional teams.
  • Strong written and oral communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor quality issues and trends and communicate findings.
  • Manage a prioritized quality improvement plan for the plant in alignment with leadership.
  • Coordinate the portfolio of quality improvement projects for the plant.
  • Lead or mentor quality improvement projects and provide training.
  • Develop control plans and perform process validation and gauging.
  • Execute quality system activities: alerts, corrective actions, audits, procedures.
  • Support new product launch quality: planning, validation, corrective actions.

Position Overview

The Quality Engineer is the primary functional role to identify and track quality issues and to organize, plan and manage improvement efforts for Quality in the facility. The plant Director of Operations owns the Quality performance of the plant. The Quality Engineer brings quality improvement skills and methods and full-time focus to the effort.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Full-time focus on customer quality...CRR/OIR
  • Monitoring and communication of quality issues and trends
  • Manages a prioritized quality improvement plan for the plant in alignment with the DO
  • Coordinates the portfolio of quality improvement projects for the plant
Lead or mentor quality improvement projects
  • Leads quality improvement projects
  • Coaches teams involved in Quality Improvement...provides process and tool mentoring
  • Quality tools training
Process analysis and control
  • Develops control plans for each product line
  • Step by step measurements, inspections, acceptance standards, controls and reaction standards
  • Works with Process Engineering to execute proper gauging, lighting, control devices...etc.
Quality System Execution
  • Quality Alerts, White Glove, Cause rework coding...etc.
  • Corrective-Action
  • Auditing
  • Plant procedures, work instructions...etc.
  • Respond to and investigate significant quality issues
New product launch quality
  • Develop quality control plan
  • Capability analysis/validation
  • Process FMEA
  • Corrective Action of any pre/post launch quality issues

QUALIFICATION, SKILL and ATTRIBUTE REQUIREMENTS:
