Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Quality Engineer for the Barceloneta AV division, 1st shift (8am–5pm). You will ensure compliance with Corporate and Divisional policies and support manufacturing to deliver the highest quality product to customers.

We expect a Bachelor in Engineering with 2+ years in related work, preferably in medical devices or pharma, and strong English/Spanish communication. Abbott offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities in a global company.

  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience; medical devices or pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
  • Learns to identify Manufacturing process defects by disposition of non-conforming material and root-cause analysis.
  • Assists in development of product quality plans, documents and systems with risk analyses and FMEAs.
  • Learns Process Monitoring Systems and methods to reduce process variation.
  • Gains knowledge of Product/Process improvement efforts and quality metrics.
  • Assists in quality improvement efforts by gathering data and applying analysis methods.

The Opportunity

This position works out of our Barceloneta location in the AV division at first shift-8am-5pm. As a global leader in Medical Devices Technologies. Provide Process/Quality Engineering support to manufacturing, helping to ensure delivery of highest quality product to the customer.

What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

  • Learns to identify Manufacturing process defects (scrap, nonconforming material, customer complaints) by disposition of non‐conforming material, assessing in identification of primary root causes and understanding corrective and preventive actions. May be responsible for working with process owner to bound product stops and document release criteria.

  • Assists in development of product quality plans, documents and systems by providing input to product specification, quality specification, quality plans, risk analyses, FMEAs in conjunction with other product development team members. May be responsible for providing input to risk analyses and FMEAs.

  • Learns Process Monitoring Systems by becoming familiar with systems applications and critical process steps; and through familiarization with methods used to reduce process variation.

  • Becomes familiar with Product/Process improvement efforts by understanding current quality metric data and learning the various analysis methods used to enhance sustaining product design and new product development; learns Quality Tools & Training Materials by gaining knowledge of prevalent tools used and by reviewing & utilizing available training materials.

  • Assist Product/Process improvement efforts (e.g). scrap, nonconforming product, customer complains) by systematically gathering quality metric data and by assesing in the appropriated analysis methods to enhance sustaining product design.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering.

  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience with a basic understanding of specified functional area. Previous experience in medical devices or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

  • Ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally to assist with resolving Quality issues.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Spanish.

  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.

The base pay for this position is $54,300.00 – $109,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
