Job summary

AUTOKINITON, located in Auburn, Indiana, is seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure product and process compliance with IATF standards. You will lead containment actions, coordinate PPAPs for new programs, analyze SPC data, and drive cross-functional teams to prevent defects while improving quality and productivity.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, and a minimum of six years in quality engineering, with knowledge of FMEA, SPC, DOE, IATF, GD&T, and welding

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum six years in quality engineering in metal stamping or assembly manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, SPC, DOE, IATF quality systems.
  • Familiar with GD&T and welding processes; PPAP knowledge essential.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure product and process compliance to customer and IATF requirements.
  • Containment actions to protect customers when quality issues arise.
  • Serve as focal contact for internal and external customers, via the Customer Liaison.
  • Coordinate PPAP for new programs, moves, engineering changes, and process improvements.
  • Analyze SPC data for process improvement and corrective actions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to solve quality problems and implement prevention.
  • Drive implementation of a progressive quality system to meet customer expectations.
  • Direct associates in measuring/testing and data tabulation; train technicians.
  • Assist plant activities to achieve quality, productivity, and cost goals.
  • Interface with CMM programmers and Weld Assurance Technician on issues.
  • Support all quality systems development and maintenance per IATF requirements.

  • Ensure product and process compliance to customer and IATF requirements.
  • Ensure effective containment actions are in place to protect customers when a quality issue is identified
  • Serve as focal point of contact for internal and external customers either directly or through the Customer Liaison.
  • Work in conjunction with engineering; coordinate the PPAP (Product Part Approval Process) for new programs, program moves, engineering changes and process improvements.
  • Analyze SPC data for process improvement, corrective actions and other activities.
  • Initiate, faciliti and participate in cross-functional teams in pursuit of problem solving and mistake proofing quality problems.
  • Drive implementation of a progressive quality system to prevent defects and meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Directs associates engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Provide training and support for the Quality Technicians and manufacturing colleagues, including gage training.
  • Assist with plant activities to achieve quality, productivity and cost reduction goals.
  • Interface as required with the CMM programmers on layout issues and the Weld Assurance Technician on weld issues.
  • Support all quality systems, both development and maintenance per IATF requirements.
  • Generate quality alerts and communicate alerts to the production floor.

This salary role is a part of our Quality team and reports to the Quality Manager.

**Required experience:**
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent industrial design experience. A.S.Q.C. certified quality engineer preferred.
  • Minimum six (6) years in quality engineering preferred in large metal stamping or assembly manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of standard quality practices, ex. FMEA's, SPC, DOE, IATF, etc.
  • Knowledge of resistance and MIG welding processes.
  • Familiar with GD&T.
  • Solid working knowledge of PPAP processes.
