JOB TITLE: Quality Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Quality Control
JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Coordinator position is responsible for overseeing Quality Control activities for purchased and manufactured products and supports the Quality Manager with Quality Management System compliance activities, including audits and Management Review.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for summarizing Quality Control audit findings.
  • Coordinate weekly electrical testing.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in identifying and implementing improvements related to rechargeable battery tracking and evaluation, free lead testing, high-rate testing, curing, and hold tag guidelines.
  • Identify and report product, process, and quality system nonconformities to appropriate lead personnel.
  • Prepare daily and weekly defect reports, daily and weekly shop reports, and walk-through nonconformance reports.
  • Control nonconforming products, including NCR flow and closure activities.
  • Assist with corrective, preventative, and continuous improvement actions.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of change-order processing and ISO document editing.
  • Coordinate with Sales/CDO as needed to organize and communicate acceptable criteria for Shops and other Customer Specific Requirements.
  • Oversee and control Quality Control and AGM battery inventory.
  • Maintain AGM records, including the AGM Release folder and electrical forms for Finish/Lab, coordinate battery release and tagging as needed.
  • Coordinate monthly acid, RO water, and cured plate sampling, as well as quarterly lead sampling.
  • Maintain working knowledge of, and comply with, the systems, procedures, and documentation of the Crown Quality System as they relate to this position and Crown quality objectives.
  • Manage inventory and order designated department supplies.
  • Monitor BC weekly and monthly for batteries and plates on the “Curing Task List/QC Location” that may require release.
  • Verify that oven sheets are entered correctly in BC and make inventory adjustments as needed.
  • Support new employee training as needed.
  • Obtain Lead Auditor certification; conduct, schedule, and organize internal audits.
  • Assist with and participate in all ISO 9001 external audits.
  • Maintain and update the Department Control Log.
  • Maintain quality records, data, and check sheets by scanning and storing them in accordance with document retention requirements.
  • Be familiar and compliant with the systems, procedures, and documentation of the Crown Quality System and how it relates to this position and Crown quality objectives.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1 year facilitating a quality system
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position operates in an office environment with standard office equipment and frequently walks the industrial plant floor. Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited too: eye safety glasses and any other PPE. The physical demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by any employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
