Job summary

Bidell Gas Compression in West Virginia is seeking a Quality Control/Weld Inspector to join our team. You will inspect welded and fabricated components, verify dimensions, and ensure compliance with engineering specifications and customer requirements.

Under the QC Manager, you will coordinate with fabrication, assembly, and paint to maintain quality throughout production and finalize compressor packages before shipment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years welding or weld inspection experience.
• 2+ years quality inspection experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or oil & gas equipment environments preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
• Experience inspecting fabricated steel structures, piping systems, and mechanical assemblies is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Basic computer skills for quality documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of fabricated components, piping, structural assemblies, and completed compressor packages.
• Verify dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and gauges.
• Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, and fabrication drawings to ensure work is completed according to specifications.
• Inspect welds, piping layouts, structural components, and mechanical assemblies for quality and compliance with company standards.
• Identify and document non-conforming materials or workmanship and communicate findings to supervisors and production personnel.
• Maintain inspection records and quality documentation in accordance with company procedures.
• Work with fabrication and assembly teams to resolve quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Perform final inspections of compressor packages prior to shipment to ensure customer specifications are met.
• Assist with maintaining company quality control procedures and standards.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently hiring for the role of Quality Control/Weld Inspectorto join our team.

Under the supervision of the QC Manager, the Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all welding and fabricated components used in the manufacturing of natural gas compressor packages meet company standards, engineering specifications, and customer requirements. This role will work closely with fabrication, assembly, and paint departments to ensure quality is maintained throughout the production process.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. when required.

• Must be able to perform detailed visual inspections of components and assemblies.
