Job summary

Sealing Devices Inc. in Town of Lancaster, NY is seeking a Quality Inspector to verify conformance to drawings and specifications.

You will perform receiving, in-process, first article, and final inspections, document nonconformances, and assist with supplier documentation requests in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in mechanical inspection, knowledge of GD&T, and familiarity with automated inspection equipment; ASQ CQT preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Industrial Tech or Quality preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years in mechanical inspection and blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and basic statistics preferred.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving inspections to verify parts, materials, and documentation meet requirements.
  • Conduct First piece, In-process, Last piece, and Final inspections per plans.
  • Perform First Article Inspections to ensure conformance to drawings.
  • Prepare customer inspection reports per requirements.
  • Document and segregate nonconforming product per policies.
  • Submit customer documentation as required.
  • Request missing or incorrect supplier documentation.
  • Use measuring devices and automated inspection equipment for inspections.
  • Interact with other departments to address quality issues and support objectives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the dept.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and work instructions in the completion of daily activities with minimal input and supervision to ensure successful accomplishment of company objectives.
  • Perform Receiving Inspections to verify that incoming parts, materials, and related documentation meet requirements and are suitable for use.
  • Perform First piece, In-process, Last piece, and Final inspections per sampling plans, product requirements, and job instructions to verify product conformity.
  • Perform First Article Inspections to ensure manufacturing die, tooling, and other manufacturing methods result in product meets customers drawing requirements.
  • Perform customer specific required Inspections and complete Inspection reports per the stated requirements.
  • Document, identify, and segregate nonconforming product in accordance with policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Complete and submit customer documentation as required.
  • Make requests to suppliers for missing or incorrect documentation.
  • Use appropriate measuring devices and automated inspection equipment to perform inspections including basic programming of automated inspection equipment.
  • Interact with other departments in a professional manner in addressing product quality and service issues.
  • Provide other departments with information and assistance to support them in accomplishing their objectives.
  • Contribute to and participate in improvement activities within the department and the company.
  • Follow departmental procedures and work instructions as written and recommend improvements as necessary.
  • Perform any other task/activity assigned by the supervisor within the scope of Company business.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per the Sealing Devices Quality System.
What you will need to succeed
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) or Work Equivalent, Field of Study: Industrial Technology or Quality related field
  • Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Industrial Technology or Quality related field
  • Computer Literacy (MS Office), 2 plus years of experience in mechanical inspection and blueprint reading required.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, basic statistical techniques, automated inspection experience preferred.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred

Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while performing detailed inspections and working at inspection stations.
  • Regularly required to lift, carry, and move materials or product up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle small parts, operate measuring instruments, and input data into computer systems.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and arms during part handling and equipment use.
  • Requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus for precision inspection tasks.
  • Must be able to hear verbal instructions, alarms, and signals in a manufacturing environment.
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, turning, or crouching to retrieve or position parts and materials.
  • Ability to work in both office and production environments, which may involve moderate noise levels, temperature variation, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.

Salary ranges for this position are determined based upon the job location and can be adjusted based upon experience, reflecting our commitment to valuing the expertise and contributions of our individual team members.
