Job summary

Solid Power seeks a day shift electrolyte Quality Control Technician to join a dynamic team of engineers and scientists revolutionizing battery technology. The role focuses on the analytical testing of solid-state electrolyte materials in a laboratory setting, ensuring accurate chemical, physical, and mechanical analyses.

You will follow standardized procedures, assist in specialized testing, maintain equipment, and work with production to deliver timely feedback.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in chemistry or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years in manufacturing or analytical lab.
  • Experience with BET, PSA, ICP, GC, XRD, FTIR, TGA, DSC, or Karl Fischer.
  • Comfort handling hazardous materials and lab safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Follow standard sample preparation and testing procedures.
  • Assist with specialized sample prep and testing with contractors.
  • Maintain test equipment and support calibration and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production for timely feedback from analyses.
  • Assist in writing SOPs and contributing to technical reports and CTQ determinations.

Job description

Solid Power is seeking a day shift electrolyte Quality Control Technician to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will be a skilled chemical technician, with interest and comfort in conducting hands-on testing and experimentation. This role will work in a laboratory environment, with the primary responsibility being the efficient and accurate chemical, physical and mechanical analysis of solid-state battery electrolytes.

Job Duties
  • Follow and document standard sample preparation testing procedures under the guidance of senior technicians and scientists.
  • Assist in more specialized sample preparation and testing, both at Solid Power and in partnership with Solid Power’s contractors and partners.
  • Maintain test equipment in clean and proper working conditions, and support manufacturer maintenance and repair as needed.
  • Assist with equipment calibration as needed.
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure analytical testing procedures provide sufficient and timely feedback.
  • Assist in writing SOPs, contribute to technical reports, specification setting, CTQ determination, and deliver other requested technical data as required .
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Highschool Diploma/GED or Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing or analytical laboratory environment desired.
  • Hands-on experience working with various analytical tools, particularly BET, PSA, ICP, GC, XRD, FTIR, TGA, DSC, Karl Fischer.
  • Experience in inorganic chemistry and/or method development is desirable.
  • Rapid learner who thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfort and competence with the responsible, safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment.

Willingness to work weekends as needed to support business and production needs. Weekend work is not a regular or mandatory part of the schedule, but flexibility is appreciated when business needs arise.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
  • Ability to wear PPE including occasional respirator protection.
  • Ability to work in dry room environment, gloveboxes, and chemistry lab.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR

Hourly Range: $26.00 - $33.00/hour
