Job summary

Skild AI is seeking a Mechatronics Technician to develop systems and processes ensuring quality and performance across robotics platforms. You will build prototypes, fabricate test rigs, and support manufacturing while collaborating with Electrical, Mechanical, and Firmware Engineers to accelerate prototyping and reliability.

You will work hands-on with aerial, ground, and integrated hardware, interpreting schematics and preparing test setups.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience as an engineering technician in a prototype or development lab.
• Ability to read/interpret PCBA schematics, cable drawings, and test procedures.
• Hands-on skills: prototype electro-mechanical hardware, IPC standards.

Responsibilities

• Build and test prototypes, sub-assemblies, and feasibility units under engineering guidance.
• Interpret schematics, diagrams, and layouts to perform testing, checkout, troubleshooting, and rework of PCBA devices and harnesses.
• Fabricate custom test equipment, boxes, and harnesses; procure and source components as needed.
• Operate and set up standard test equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, supplies, DMMs) and perform PCBA/cable rework to IPC standards.
• Adapt plans quickly in a fast-paced environment with evolving goals.

You'll collaborate closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and Firmware Engineers to accelerate prototyping, improve reliability, and lay the foundation for scalable production.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience as an engineering technician in a prototype or development lab.
• Strong ability to read/interpret PCBA schematics, cable drawings, and test procedures independently.
• Experience with prototype electro-mechanical hardware (PCBAs, cables, harnesses, robotic/vehicle systems).
• Hands-on skills: soldering, crimping, rework, cable assembly to IPC standards; familiarity with electrical components, connectors, tools, and test equipment.
• Solid grasp of fundamental electrical engineering concepts.

Base Salary Range

$70,000 - $150,000 USD
