Job summary

CRH’s Oldcastle Infrastructure in Romeoville, IL is seeking a QC Technician to observe fabrication of precast concrete structures and perform daily testing in accordance with Oldcastle standards and state regulations. This union role involves documenting observations and communicating quality concerns to production, engineers, and management.

The candidate should have 3+ years of concrete experience, be able to lift up to 40 lbs, read/write basic instructions, and be prepared to earn or already

Qualifications

• QC experience in a precast/concrete manufacturing setting preferred.
• ACI/PCI Certification preferred or must pass Concrete Field Testing within 3 months.
• At least 3 years of concrete experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping.
• Clear communication with team and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily testing of concrete specimens.
• Conduct daily pre/post pour inspections of products.
• Maintain records of observations for each structure.
• Report process improvements and quality concerns to teams.
• Write Corrective Action Reports for defects.
• Assist sales with customer quality inquiries.
• Ensure QC program is properly implemented in Romeoville.
• Other duties as required.

Job Summary

The QC technician will observe fabrication of precast concrete structures and their reinforcing cages to ensure compliance with Oldcastle standards and conformity to production drawings. The QC technician will also perform daily testing of concrete in compliance with state regulations and Oldcastle quality standards. This is a union role.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform daily testing of concrete specimens
• Perform daily pre and post pour inspections of products
• Maintain records of observations for every structure produced
• Report to production crew, engineer, and management team on process improvements, repetitive mistakes, and quality concerns
• Write a Corrective Action Report for each defective or damaged product
• Assisting the sales team to respond to any customer complaints about product quality
• Ensure correct implementation of our QC program in Romeoville
• Other responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

Job Requirements

• QC experience in related industry preferred
• ACI / PCI Certification preferred, or required to pass ACI Concrete Field Testing within 3 months and maintain certification
• At least 3 years of concrete experience preferred
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read/write simple instructions and communicate effectively with team members
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs periodically throughout the day
• This job involves a lot of walking in an industrial indoor and outdoor manufacturing environment

Compensation

• The hourly pay rate is $31.31/hr
