Job summary

IMCO Carbide Tool Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Technician in the Quality department. The role focuses on inspecting finished products to ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures.

You will assist in root-cause analysis, audit countermeasures, and train inspectors and operators on proper inspection techniques. The position requires attention to safety and accurate communication across teams.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints/drawings.
  • Knowledge of quality management techniques and practices.
  • ASQ certification or prior quality inspection experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Machine operator experience with familiar tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect finished products to ensure conformance with standards.
  • Assist in root cause analysis of quality issues and auditing countermeasures.
  • Train inspectors and operators on proper inspection procedures.
  • Audit processes to ensure adherence to IMCO policies and procedures; set up in-house inspections and new inspection equipment.

Job description

We currently have an opening in our Quality department for a Quality Control Technician.

Quality Control Technician - Essential Duties

The primary responsibility of the IMCO Quality Control Technician is to ensure, through inspection of finished product, that the quality procedures are being followed and that conformance with standards is met. The Quality Control Technician will investigate jobs that are said to be out-of-spec per the inspectors and will perform other duties as assigned and in support of the Quality department.

Some of the specific duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, assisting in root cause analysis of quality issues and auditing any countermeasures, training inspectors and/or operators on proper inspection procedures, auditing processes to ensure they follow IMCOs policies and procedures, helping set-up in-house inspections and use of new inspection equipment; including any programming of equipment, if needed, and helping with RGAs.

Experience & Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints / drawings.
  • Knowledge of quality management techniques and practices.
  • Certification through ASQ and/or prior quality inspection experience a plus, but not required.
  • Machine operator experience, or familiarity with our tools, a plus.
  • Adequate verbal and written communication skills that allow for proper information exchange.
  • Must follow all safety rules to prevent injury to self and others.

This position requires the ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. This position requires regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards. Other requirements are:

  • Must be able to walk, talk, listen and speak clearly.
  • Must have flexibility of hands and fingers in order to handle tools safely.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, ability to differentiate colors on gauges and blueprints, and depth perception.
  • Ability to lift and carry items of varying weight not to exceed 45 lbs.
Wage & Schedule

We have a position available on the following shift, with a minimum base rate of $20.00/hour.

Monday thru Thursday or Tuesday thru Friday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Working Conditions

The Quality Control Technician will work in a variety of settings, including the following:

A warehouse area, which may have moderate noise levels and has climate control, and a production area where there will be contact with natural and synthetic oils, as well as various grinding dusts. This area has moderate noise levels and climate control.
