Job description

POSITION TITLE: Quality Control Technician
DEPARTMENT:Quality Control
JOB LOCATION: Brenham, TX
SHIFT/SCHEDULE:All
REPORTS TO: Quality Control Technician Supervisor
N0. OF DIRECT REPORTS: Varies

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Provide quality assurance for chemical batches, packaging lines, and provide assistance to mixing and packaging facilities as needed to resolve quality assurance problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interface with production personnel as needed to ensure blends and packaging are correct
  • Perform periodic quality control checks of all operational production lines (liquid, aerosol, and labeling). Keep organized and legible records during these checks using the corresponding format for every batch and product
  • Assist to QC Chemist in performing quality control analysis including approval and rejection of incoming raw materials, labels, and wipes, as directed by the Quality Control Technician Supervisor
  • Assist to QC Chemist in performing quality control analysis on mixes and finished goods using established test procedures, wet chemistry, approval, and rejection based on QC parameters, as directed by the Quality Control Department Manager
  • Assist to QC Chemist in performing calibration of equipment when required
  • Communicate quality issues to the Production Supervisor, Quality Control Department Manager, Quality Control Technician Supervisor, and Operations Manager
  • Maintain laboratory areas in accordance with established housekeeping (clean and organized) and safety standards
  • Assist to QC Chemist in Maintaining retained samples in an organized manner of annual rotation, every two years for EPA-registered products and every five years for FDA-registered products
  • Send samples to the appropriate waste stream collection area after the storage time requirement has been met
  • Assist with annual inventory
  • Serve as backup for QC Chemists in their absence, authorized by the Quality Control Technician Supervisor
  • Perform startup quality control checks on all aerosol and liquid lines using the batch ticket as a reference and other instructions or SOP.
  • Any other duties assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One to two years of experience as a Quality Control Technician is preferred. Experience with production inspection and testing. Ability to use measurement tools. Strong attention to detail and basic proficiency in data entry software.


PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENT:

Must have the ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods, sometimes with heavy loads. Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled environments.
