Job summary

Tangent-Technologies,-LL is seeking a QC Supervisor to lead day-to-day quality control operations and supervise QC Technicians, including recruitment, scheduling, training, and performance reviews under the Quality Manager. The role ensures testing and measurement equipment are calibrated and accurate while driving continuous improvement with QA, Process Engineering, and Operations.

You will manage CAPs, participate in MRB, maintain quality documentation, review defects, and report quality

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a manufacturing or quality control environment.
  • 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with testing equipment and inspection procedures.
  • Quality certification (ASQ, CQI, Six Sigma, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, English is required.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, and supervise QC Technicians under the oversight of the Quality Manager.
  • Manage QC Tech schedules to provide adequate coverage.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering and Operations.
  • Work with Quality Engineer on continuous improvement projects.
  • Lead teams to complete CAPs to resolve issues.
  • Participate in MRB process and lead meetings on quarantined material.
  • Maintain records of reported quality issues, identify trends, and present during daily meetings.
  • Track and report on production quality performance at a regular cadence.
  • Review significant defects and create Correction Action Plans (CAPs).
  • Serve as document controller for quality documents in focus areas (Lumber Extrusion, Sheet Extrusion, or Fabrication & Assembly).
  • Conduct and document process audits for quality processes.
  • Provide training on inspection methods, equipment use, and root-cause analysis via CAP.
  • Assist with first article inspections / new production runs and report issues or improvement ideas.
  • Ensure testing and measurement equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Assign new and replacement measuring/test equipment to QC Techs and maintain accountability records.

Description

The Quality Control (QC) Supervisor oversees day-to-day quality control operations and leads a team of QC Technicians — including recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management — under the direction of the Quality Manager. This position identifies and resolves quality defects through Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), participates in the Material Review Board (MRB) process, conducts process audits, maintains quality documentation, and ensures all testing and measurement equipment is properly calibrated and accounted for. Partnering with Quality Engineering, Process Engineering, and Operations, the QC Supervisor drives continuous improvement and ensures production output consistently meets Tangent quality standards.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Recruit, hire, and directly supervise QC Technicians, including conducting performance reviews, under the oversight of the Quality Manager.
  • Manage QC Tech schedules to provide adequate coverage.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering and Operations
  • Work directly with Quality Engineer on continuous improvement projects.
  • Lead teams to work on completing CAPs to resolve issues.
  • Participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) process and at times lead these meetings to make decisions on quarantined material and components.
  • Manage records of reported quality issues, identify trends of top defects, and present during daily meetings.
  • Track and report on production quality performance at a regular cadence.
  • Review significant and reoccurring defects and create Correction Action Plans (CAPs).
  • Serve as a document controller for quality documents in the focus areas of either Lumber Extrusion, Sheet Extrusion, or Fabrication & Assembly
  • Conduct and document process audits for quality processes.
  • Provide initial, annual, and refresher quality training related to inspection methods, use of equipment, documentation, and root-cause analysis via the CAP process.
  • Directly assist with first article inspections / new production runs and follow up with reporting any identified issues or improvement ideas.
  • Ensure all testing and measurement equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Responsible for assigning new and replacement measuring and test equipment to QC Techs working in a focus area and maintaining records for accountability.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, part numbers, and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control principles such as root cause analysis, inspection methods, and measurement techniques.
  • Experience supervising or guiding quality inspection activities.
  • Skilled in using measurement tools such as calipers, tape measures, scales, etc.
  • Familiarity with statistical quality control and sampling methods.
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT).
  • Skilled and experienced in basic mathematics to include converting fractions to decimals.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Auditing experience is desired; auditing certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of plastic extrusion is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ISO, GMP or other standards is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, English is required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must be legally able to work in the US.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or quality control environment.
  • 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with testing equipment and inspection procedures required.
  • Quality certification (e.g., ASQ, CQI, Six Sigma, or equivalent) is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift - up to 50 lbs.
