Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a Quality Control Technician to sample, test, and inspect construction materials in field and laboratory settings. You will compile and evaluate statistical data to maintain product quality and reliability while adhering to supplier and owner specifications.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of related experience, basic Excel skills, and the ability to read measurements. Must follow OSHA safety policies and maintain thorough QC records and logs throughout production

General Summary This position is responsible for sampling, testing, and inspecting construction materials or elements in a laboratory or field setting to ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications.

Essential Job Accountabilities Tests and inspects Aggregate and Asphalt products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products Obtain and maintain certifications as required to perform testing. Maintain thorough understanding of specifications, testing and reporting requirements. Ability to communicate and schedule QC activities with crew and inspection personnel. Ability to interpret specifications and discuss with crew and inspection staff. Ability to make decisions based on knowledge of specifications and testing requirements. Collect material samples, send samples to lab, interpret test results and distribute information to crews and inspection staff. Maintain all QC log books and reports in accordance with specifications. Follow all OSHA and Company safety policies and procedures, including attendance at safety meetings Maintain a safe and clean work environment

Education

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience

Work Experience

2+ years of related experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Perform medium duty manufacturing work in a group environment
  • Should possess basic literacy and computation skills and the ability to read and take basic measurements
  • Basic proficiency in Excel is required
  • Previous quality or manufacturing experience is a plus
