Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants seeks a Quality Control Inspector - NDE Inspector to support our work at Centrus Energy in Oak Ridge, TN. The role requires NDE methods testing, interpreting results, and ensuring compliance with codes and drawings.

You will review welding/inspection procedures, maintain records, and collaborate with engineers to drive quality improvements. U.S. citizenship and DOE-site requirements apply.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections using NDE methods such as leak testing and liquid penetrant testing, interpreting results and applying acceptance criteria from drawings and work orders.
  • Perform welding inspections to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, evaluate weld quality, monitor welding and brazing processes, and confirm welder qualifications.
  • Ensure NDE and welding systems, processes, and documentation align with industry and internal requirements; drive continuous improvement.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and codes to validate product conformity and maintain records for fabrication, inspection, and final reporting.
  • Manage nonconformance documentation, support internal process audits, and communicate inspection results with engineers and managers.
  • Provide training on inspection techniques and maintain a organized and safe work area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you'll conduct detailed inspections using NDE methods such as leak testing and liquid penetrant testing, interpreting results and applying acceptance criteria from drawings and work orders. You will perform welding inspections to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, evaluate weld quality, monitor welding and brazing processes, and confirm welder qualifications. You'll also ensure that all NDE and welding systems, processes, and documentation align with industry and internal requirements while helping drive continuous improvement. Additionally, you will review engineering drawings, specifications, and codes to validate product conformity and maintain accurate records for fabrication, inspection, and final reporting. This role includes managing nonconformance documentation, supporting internal process audits, and collaborating with engineers and managers to communicate inspection results. You'll also provide training on inspection techniques, maintain an organized and safe work area, and support other qualityrelated activities as needed.

Education and Licensure

HS Diploma

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance if required.
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship.

  • CWI Certification
  • Level II certifications in liquid penetrant (PT) and leak testing (LT)
  • Documented experience in NDE methods
  • 3+ years of NDE inspection experience.
  • Strong understanding of weld codes and standards.
  • Proficiency with mechanical drawings and related technical writing.
Preferred Qualifications and Location Details
  • Active Q Clearance.
  • Experience with GD&T and Dimensional Inspections
  • NQA-1 and/or DOE related experience.
  • Onsite position - Oak Ridge, TN
  • Position will be initial W2 contract with conversion and/or extension options.
