Job summary

Orion Placement in Lubbock, TX seeks a seasoned quality leader for our ready-mix concrete and aggregates operations. You will lead QA/QC programs, serve as the technical expert on materials testing and specifications, and drive design optimization and approvals across multiple plants.

The role requires 7+ years in materials and 3+ years in technical leadership with ACI/TxDOT expertise; PE preferred. Hybrid position; travel regionally; relocation not offered.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in ready-mix concrete, aggregates, or construction materials.
• 3+ years in technical leadership or quality management.
• Strong knowledge of ASTM, ACI, TxDOT specifications and lab operations.
• Valid driver's license with clean record and ability to travel regionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead QA/QC programs across ready-mix concrete, aggregates, and related materials.
• Act as the technical expert on materials quality, testing, and specs.
• Oversee mix design development, optimization, validation, and approvals.
• Direct laboratory operations, quality systems, and accreditation needs.
• Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, TxDOT, and customer specs.
• Collaborate with operations, sales, and customers to guide technical issues.
• Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and mentor regional quality personnel and laboratories.
• Drive continuous improvement for product consistency and compliance.
• Monitor audits, certifications, and overall program performance.

Note: Candidates must have 7+ years of experience in ready-mix concrete, aggregates, or construction materials, along with 3+ years of technical leadership or quality management experience. Required ACI and NRMCA certifications (or the ability to obtain missing certifications quickly if otherwise highly qualified) and a valid driver's license are essential. • Develop, mentor, and lead regional quality control managers, laboratory managers, technicians, and quality personnel.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product consistency, compliance, and operational excellence.
• Monitor quality metrics, audits, certifications, and overall program performance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in ready-mix concrete, aggregates, or construction materials.
• 3+ years of technical leadership or quality management experience.
• Strong knowledge of ASTM, ACI, TxDOT, laboratory operations, and quality management systems.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I.
• ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician Level 1.
• NRMCA Concrete Technologist Level 3 or 4.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or related field preferred.
• Professional Engineer license and advanced ACI/TxDOT certifications are preferred.
