Responsibilities

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to oversee and manage Quality Control (QC) operations within a regulated manufacturing environment.

The Quality Control Manager will ensure that raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and laboratory activities meet established quality standards, specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

This individual will lead the QC team and oversee laboratory testing, documentation, material and product release, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Control Manager will work closely with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, R&D, Warehouse, and Supply Chain to maintain a strong culture of quality and compliance.

Candidates must be bilingual.

Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Control Management
  • Manage day-to-day QC activities, including laboratory testing, sampling, inspection, and product evaluation.
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop QC personnel.
  • Establish department priorities, schedules, and workload assignments to support production timelines.
  • Ensure raw materials, packaging components, in-process materials, and finished products are tested according to approved specifications and procedures.
  • Review and approve laboratory results, test data, and QC documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure timely communication of testing results to Quality Assurance and other departments.
  • Monitor testing turnaround times and identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency.
Laboratory & Testing
  • Oversee laboratory testing using established methods, specifications, and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate sampling and testing of incoming raw materials and finished products.
  • Manage analytical testing performed internally and through third-party laboratories.
  • Review Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and analytical reports.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and qualified.
  • Maintain appropriate laboratory controls, records, and documentation.
  • Ensure testing methods remain current and compliant with applicable requirements.
Investigations & Nonconformance
  • Lead and support investigations involving Out-of-Specification (OOS), Out-of-Trend (OOT), deviations, nonconformances, complaints, and laboratory errors.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to conduct root-cause analysis and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure investigations are thorough, timely, scientifically sound, and properly documented.
  • Identify recurring quality issues and recommend corrective actions and process improvements.
cGMP & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure QC activities comply with applicable FDA requirements, cGMP regulations, company policies, SOPs, and quality standards.
  • Maintain compliance with requirements applicable to dietary supplement and nutraceutical manufacturing.
  • Support internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits and inspections.
  • Provide QC documentation and technical information during audits.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and traceable laboratory records.
  • Promote strong data integrity and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) throughout the department.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to support product release and overall quality systems.
  • Work with Manufacturing to resolve production-related quality issues.
  • Collaborate with R&D on product specifications, testing requirements, and analytical methods.
  • Partner with Purchasing and Supply Chain on raw-material and supplier quality concerns.
  • Communicate quality trends, risks, and concerns to senior management.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding testing, specifications, and quality requirements.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve QC processes, laboratory efficiency, testing procedures, and documentation.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and quality metrics.
  • Participate in quality and process-optimization initiatives.
  • Develop and update QC SOPs, specifications, forms, and work instructions.
  • Support implementation of new laboratory equipment, technologies, and testing methodologies.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise and develop QC employees.
  • Conduct training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained on SOPs, laboratory procedures, cGMP requirements, safety practices, and documentation standards.
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a quality-focused culture.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bilingual proficiency required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Quality, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 5+ years of Quality Control, Quality Assurance, laboratory operations, or related experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience within a cGMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory testing, specifications, sampling, and quality documentation.
  • Experience with OOS investigations, deviations, CAPA, and root-cause analysis.
  • Strong understanding of cGMP and GDP requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred
  • Experience within nutraceutical, dietary supplement, food, pharmaceutical, or similar regulated manufacturing environments.
  • FDA-regulated manufacturing experience.
  • Raw-material and finished-product testing experience.
  • Experience managing third-party laboratory testing.
  • Familiarity with LIMS, ERP, and/or eQMS systems.
  • Experience supporting customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
  • HACCP, PCQI, ASQ, or related quality certifications.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP requirements and quality systems.
  • Understanding of dietary supplement/nutraceutical manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory testing and analytical principles.
  • Ability to interpret specifications, laboratory results, COAs, and technical documentation.
  • Strong investigation and root-cause analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
