Job summary

Hardman Construction is a Midwest leader in foundation, geotechnical, and bridge construction, delivering quality craftsmanship since 1979. This on-site Quality Control Manager role oversees the Contractor QC Plan on USACE projects, reviews submittals, coordinates testing, and maintains documentation.

You will liaise with Government QA, ensure timely submissions, and have authority to stop work to prevent non-compliant construction, while contributing to ongoing safety and quality improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or related engineering discipline required.
  • Prior experience as Quality Control Manager or similar on USACE projects.
  • Working knowledge of USACE QC requirements and three-phase control process.
  • Knowledge of bridge and geotechnical construction; software & technical proficiency; safety commitment.

  • Review submittals, RFIs, and material certifications; coordinate testing/inspections.
  • Liaise with Government QA Representative and support project meetings; stop-work authority if needed.

The Quality Control Manager Position

This is an on-site position serving as the Contractor’s designated Quality Control Manager on projects involving the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). In this role, the Quality Control Manager will implement and manage the Contractor Quality Control Plan, ensuring all work complies with contract drawings, specifications, and submittal requirements. You will oversee the three-phase quality control system, conduct daily inspections, and maintain accurate QC reports and documentation.

The Quality Control Manager will review submittals, RFIs, and material certifications, coordinate required testing and inspections, and track deficiencies to ensure timely resolution. Acting as the primary liaison with the Government QA Representative, you will ensure all documentation is complete and submitted on time. This role also includes participating in project meetings and maintaining the authority to stop work if necessary to prevent non-compliant construction.

Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities for the Quality Control Manager Position
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or related engineering discipline required.
  • Prior experience serving in Quality Control Manager, Quality Manager, Project Engineer, or similar construction quality role on US Army Corps of Engineers projects required.
  • Working knowledge of USACE Contractor Quality Control requirements, including the three-phase control process, preparatory meetings, initial inspections, follow-up inspections, daily QC reporting, and deficiency tracking.
  • Knowledge of, exposure to, and/or an interest in bridge and geotechnical construction
  • Software & general technical proficiency
