Job summary

The role requires directing both lab and field QC activities, maintaining certifications, and driving safety, integrity, and quality across all operations.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 4+ years of experience in quality control preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience managing a staff of 2+ employees.
  • Geology Engineering or technical degree may substitute for years of experience.
  • Certifications: ArDOT Basic Aggregate and HMA Certification, TDOT HMA Certification including mixture design, MDOT CAT I and CAT II.

  • Provide leadership that develops and sustains a team aligned with Safety, Integrity & Quality.
  • Lead QC team in safe production to sustain ZERO incidents.
  • Maintain QC/QA processes to meet state and federal requirements.
  • Create awareness of KPI’s and cost control.
  • Support customers and sales with samples, testing and communication.
  • Interact with internal and external customers to meet submittal and testing deadlines.
  • Mentor QC technicians in technical, operational, and supervisory areas.

Position Overview

The Quality Control (QC) Manageris responsible forproviding technicalexpertise, support and guidance to Standard Construction quality control department, external/internal customers,andsales team ensuring the highest product quality and customer service. They will build partnerships with other leaders and their teams working collaboratively to meet shared companyobjectives. They mustdemonstratecontinuous leadership in supporting our core values: Safety, Integrity, and Quality.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Responsible to provide leadership that develops and sustains ateam that supports our core values of Safety, Integrity & Quality.

Support and lead the QCteam in safe production activities with the goal of sustaining ZERO incidents.

Maintain QC/QA processes for facilities to ensure Standard Construction meets and exceeds state and federal requirements.

Createawareness among personnel regarding KPI’s (key performance indicators) and cost control.

Support product quality and customer service bymaintainingstrongline of communication with all lines of business, management, and theirteams.

Support customers and salesteam demand for samples to be collected, packaged,tested, and sent out.

Interacts directly with internal and external customers through effective communication to satisfy material submittal andtesting deadlines.

Work with internal HMAproduction andQC to meet their needs.

Troubleshoot issues that arise from customers by analyzing and evaluating specific conditions or situations to the best benefit of the company and the customer.

Effectively manage employee performance through (FLT) Frontline Leadership Training that includes but is not limited to coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary.

MaintaincurrentQC/QA certifications.

Prismmasteruser to enter, review product changes, and revise active mixtures.

Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in Standard Construction safety policies and procedures.

Adhere to all applicable regulations including (MSHA) Mine Safety and Health Administration and (OSHA) Occupational Safety and Health Administration aggregateproduction, safety, environmental, state, federal, and company policies; ensure observance and compliance of such regulations.

Oversee and ensure lab equipment and reference materials aremaintainedand up to date.

Mentor others in the areas oftechnical, operational, customer relations and supervisory functions.

Regular andtimelyonsiteattendance isrequired.

Managerial Duties/Function

Activelyparticipatein industry associationsof states within the company footprint.Support andmaintaina working relationship with state,localand private agencies.

Manage all financial aspects of the quality control business unit.

Perform business management duties such asmaintainingrecords and files, preparingreportsand ordering supplies and equipment.

Reviewtests and procedures performed to ensure the results con­form to the established procedures and policies.

Oversight on specialty products and products with tight tolerance: Specialty blends

Testing and creating new products

Conduct laboratory tours and explain operating procedures to the public and visitors.

Managelaboratory and field QC Techniciansincludingbut not limitedto,employee workloads,schedulesand staffing needs.

Verify and oversee all training/certifications for lab employees.

Assist with Interviewing and hiringprocessas necessary.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)required.

4or more years of experience in quality control preferred.

2or more years of experience managing a staff of 2 or more employees.

A n Geology Engineering ortechnical degree from an accredited university may be substituted for years of experiencestatedabove on ayear by yearbasis.

Shouldpossessorhave the ability toobtain the following certifications:ArDOTBasic Aggregate and HMA Certification, TDOT HMA Certificationincludingmixture design, MDOTCAT I and CAT II.
