Position Summary

The Quality Control Manager (QCM) in the federal construction industry is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of construction projects in compliance with all contractual standards. This position requires strong knowledge of federal construction standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices, as well as the ability to lead a team, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and ensure that all project deliverables meet or exceed established quality benchmarks. The QCM plays a critical role in the successful execution and completion of federal construction projects.

This position will report to our office location in Birmingham, AL.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties, but not all duties performed for this position. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Control Plan for projects in accordance with the Army Corps Three Phases of Control.
  • Review and certify that all submittals, plans, and specifications comply with contract requirements, while coordinating required evaluations and testing by approved personnel or facilities.
  • Document quality evaluations and implement corrective actions to maintain high standards and reduce recurring deficiencies.
  • Manage and coordinate quality control activities, including inspections to verify that materials, workmanship, and project deliverables meet required specifications.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive quality management system, address non-conformance issues, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
Minimum Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • OSHA 30 hour
  • USACE CQM Certification
  • Experience with Procore and RMS
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, and PDF
  • Proven experience as a QCM on similar federal projects
  • In-depth knowledge of quality control procedures and legal standards
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening (post accepted offer) and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.

This position requires the ability to maneuver around work sites, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; frequent opportunity to move about and to work outside the office environment for extended periods involving exposure to the elements with weather that will include extreme heat, cold, wind, rain or other inclement weather, walking over rough and uneven surfaces, and routine lifting of up to 35 pounds. If required, must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times including but not limited to: hard hats, steel toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection. Must always maintain a constant state of mental alertness.

Working Conditions

Job is performed in a combination of office and outdoor site locations. The office setting includes exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Outdoor settings include walking, driving, and carrying supplies throughout all seasons with exposure to heat and cold conditions, and potentially wildlife. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and loud noise.
