Job summary

Amrize is seeking a Quality Control Lead to perform materials QC tests (sand/rock) to ASTM and AASHTO standards. You will conduct lab and field sampling, analyze data, and help ensure products meet project specifications across multiple locations.

The role requires two years of post-secondary technical education in sciences, proficiency with standard office tools, and the ability to travel and work overtime when needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; two years of post-secondary technical education or coursework in sciences related to laboratory functions preferred.
  • Experience with quality control in lab settings is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple regional locations and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control tests on materials (sand/rock) using ASTM and AASHTO standards.
  • Carry out lab and field sampling; ensure materials meet specs for state, project and customer requirements.
  • Document material control plans and QA/QC data; maintain test databases and report summaries.

ABOUT THE ROLE
You will be responsible for performing quality control tests on materials (sand/rock) for specific product linesusing ASTM and AASHTO standards.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Carry out ongoing lab and field sampling. Testing to ensure that material produced and shipped meet State,project and customer specifications
  • Conducts in depth problem-solving, detail data and trend analysis and troubleshooting, reporting resultsassociated with aggregate material performance.
  • Assist with the documentation of material control plans and material performance data, procedures andproject-specific quality control.
  • Performs some service, repair, and calibration of laboratory and field testing equipment
  • Carries out regular updates to appropriate Quality Control and Quality Assurance test databases andspreadsheets and provide report summaries or analyses as needed.
  • Trains new employees within the region on QC policies, processes and guidelines
  • Investigates out-of-spec results, recommends and implements corrective actions
  • Ensures that SOPs, certifications and testing documentation are accurate and up to date
  • Self-motivated with a solid work ethic
  • Highly dependable, ability to work cooperatively in fast paced environment.
  • Ability to learn plant flow and plant operations.
  • Observe and enforce all Amrize US Safety Standards, Advisories, and Policies.
  • Be a responsible advocate for on-the-job safety and the environment.
  • Provide “troubleshooting” guidance and advice, for various customers both internal and external.
  • Work under general / minimal supervision; customarily works with limited supervision.
  • Ability to travel to multi region location and work overtime as required.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School diploma/GED; two years of post-secondary technical education or course work inSciences that deal with laboratory functions in preferred. This is a great entry level position for a Geology,Chemistry or Earth Sciences graduate.
Required Work Experience: Experience working in varying weather elements preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience as materials Q.C. Laboratory Technician preferred.
  • Ability to learn the basic operations of aggregate plants.
  • Computer proficiency including MS Word, Excel and Google applications
  • Ability to lift and carry 50lbs over uneven ground for a distanc
  • This job requires shift work, callouts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekend and holiday work.
  • Employees may have the work schedule adjusted on short notice.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
