Job summary

Celgard, LLC in Charlotte, NC is seeking a QC Lab Tech to join the Quality team. You will perform physical and chemical QC tests, maintain lab equipment, and help ensure product quality for membrane battery separators used in EVs and ESS.

Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, you will document results, support ISO/TS16949 initiatives, and work a 2-2-3 day shift schedule from 6:00am to 6:00pm, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1+ year hands-on lab experience or Celgard operations experience
• Quality control lab performing chemical and physical testing for release of manufactured products preferred
• Previous lab experience in an analytical or R&D environment preferred
• Hands on experience with polymer resins preferred
• Prior experience documenting test results/observations required
• Experience with ISO certified systems is a plus; internal auditor experience is a plus
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
• Good math skills and unit conversions (Eng/Metric) required
• Knowledge of basic statistical concepts desired
• Knowledgeable of requirements for a certified environmental system preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform standard and/or non-routine QC tests including physical and chemical testing
• Perform routine and non-routine resin testing using DSC, TGA, FTIR, Rheometer, Melt Flow indexer, and pycnometer
• Maintain calibration status of equipment
• Maintain accurate records of data and observations (paper and electronic)
• Prepare and verify data certificates for COA and maintain QC document control
• Collaborate with team members; participate in cross-functional teams and lead meetings
• Communicate via telephone and e-mail in a friendly and professional manner
• Participate in ISO 9000 / TS16949 initiatives and safety practices
• Maintain clean and organized lab; participate in 5S activities
• Present to small groups and participate in tours of lab and facility
• Train others as needed and maintain professional relationships
• Utilize KPIs to gauge performance and drive corrective actions
• Collaborate with plant personnel to meet objectives and support continuous improvement

Job Description:

About the Role

We are seeking a QC Lab Tech to be a part of the Quality team based in Charlotte, NC. Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the Quality Control Technician serves as part of a team responsible for performing all duties associated with product quality testing in a plastic separator manufacturingfacility, andis responsible for maintaining the safe and secure operation of the quality lab on his/her shift. The QC Technician will support the plant in aligning Celgard systems and processes to the automotive requirements; specifically in the product quality testinglab, andwill assist the quality team in maintaining and performing other quality-related duties in the manufacturing area that directly support the on-going success of the value stream.

Shift

This is a day shift position on a 2-2-3 schedule. Shifts are12 hourshifts from 6:00am – 6:00pm

Qualifications

Education Background:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge & Experience:

• 1+ years of “hands on” experience in a laboratory environment or previous Celgard operations experience required; may consider relevant advanced education and coursework in lieu of experience

• Quality Control Lab performing chemical and physical testing for the release of manufactured products preferred

• Previous lab experience in an analytical or R&D environment preferred

• Hands on experience working with polymer resins preferred

• Prior experience documenting test results/observations required

• Experience with an ISO certified system is a plus; Experience as an internal auditor in an ISO certified quality system is a plus

• Proficientin MS Office applications (i.e. MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook) required

• Good math skills and understanding of unit conversions (English/Metric) required

• Knowledge of basic statistical concepts desired

• Perform standard and/or non-routine QC tests including physical and chemical testing

• Perform routine and non-routine resin testing using equipment such as Differential Scanning Calorimeter, TGA analyzers, FTIR spectroscopy, Rheometer, Melt Flow indexer, and pycnometer.

• Maintain calibration status of equipment

• Maintain accurate records of data and observations (paper and electronic records)

• Prepare and verify accuracy of data certificates for product shipments (COA). Maintain QC document control (test procedures, calibration procedures, forms, etc.)

• Collaborate and demonstrate good communication with team members both within the department and cross-functionally; participateoncross-functional teams; lead meetings

• Communicatesvia telephone and e-mail in a friendly and professional manner

• Participate in employee involvement activities and ISO 9000 / TS16949 initiatives.

• Practice excellent safety and environmentally sound habits; plan safetyintoall work activities.

Working Environment

This position is in a manufacturing plant setting that would require working in a production environment around chemicals. Work will require standing and walking throughout the shift. Lighting and temperature are adequate. You may be required tolift upto 35 pounds and/or force necessary to push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
