Job summary

Thorne in Summerville, SC is seeking a Quality Control Inspector Lead to join our Quality Control team on the 2nd or 3rd shift. The role focuses on sampling, inspecting, testing, and releasing materials and finished products in a GMP environment.

The successful candidate will lead a team, train new hires, verify QC processes, perform audits, and promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within our manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• QC Inspector certification levels or prior lead experience in manufacturing is required.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office experience.
• Handheld calculators for basic math calculations to complete records.
• Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram or schedule instructions.

Responsibilities

• Leads and inspires team members.
• Lead trainer and assessor for new hires, continuing certification, and process training.
• Verifies QC and Operations processes (AQL checks, inventory dispositions, incidents/reports).
• Implements process improvements and participates in/deals with departmental meetings.
• Conducts weekly Audit walks and supports cGMP activities.
• Tracks QC consumables and orders as needed.
• Supports training/development programs and assists colleagues and management.
• Promotes Company Mission and Values, fostering accountability, innovation, teamwork and respect.
• Holds turnover meetings for shifts and covers supervisor duties as needed.

The Quality Control (QC) Inspector Lead follows established procedures to perform activities associated with the sampling, inspection, testing, and examination of incoming materials, mixtures, in-process materials, finished products, and releases.

Operating Schedule:

• 2nd Shift 3:00pm - 11:30pm | Monday - Friday
• 3rd Shift 11:00pm - 7:30am | Monday - Friday

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leads and inspires team members.
• Is the lead trainer and assessor for QCI new hires, continuing certification, and process training.
• Verification of QC and Operations processes:
  • Verifies AQL checks in Encapsulation, Powderfill, and Packaging
  • QC verifications of Inventory status dispositions including NCMs
  • QC Champion on Incidents and Investigation reports
  • Implements process improvements
  • Participates in and/or leads, as needed, QCI departmental meetings.
• Conducts weekly Audit walks.
• Supports and monitors cGMP activities throughout the process.
• Tracks QCI consumables goods and order, as needed.
• Is knowledgeable of the QCIs responsibilities, experience, education, competencies, and physical demands.
• Actively participate in required training, development programs, and electives, and support colleagues, trainers, and management as appropriate with these efforts.
• Promotes the Company's Mission and Values, including an accountable, innovative, and results-oriented culture that promotes customer service, openness, teamwork, mutual trust, and respect.
• Holds turnover meetings with each shift on all follow up items that need to be passed on.Fills in for supervi or as needed for meetings when supervisor is unable to attend.
• Covers supervisor duties when supervisor is out of office.

WHAT YOU NEED

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
• Successfully completed QC Inspector certification levels or has had previous experience as a lead in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Employee has basic computer skills and Microsoft Office experience.
• Employee can use handheld calculators to perform basic math calculations to complete records accurately.
• Employee is able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Employee is able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
