Job description

SUMMARY: The Quality Control Inspector I will work under limited supervision, perform a variety of mechanical inspections and testing operations on in-house and vendor parts, materials, and assembles for conformance to QA Technology’s and customer’s specifications. This position also includes the performance of process and production area auditing to ensure system compliance to ISO procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform receiving inspection on parts using a wide variety of inspection tools and equipment.
  • Perform FAI – First Article Inspections for new products or suppliers.
  • Identify and route defective products to MRB/DMR containment.
  • Perform in-process inspections on components and sub-assemblies.
  • Enter Final Inspections result in the applicable database, on forms, and file the results in the appropriate files.
  • Process and/or do ISO Audits and perform basic evaluations of the results.
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Take measurements on gauges to support calibration system.

  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
  • The ability to understand/interpret engineering drawings and create appropriate inspection method.
  • Must have knowledge of precision hand tools such as: Dial Indicators, Calipers, and Micrometers. Experience with XRF X-Ray, Optical Comparator, Optical Inspection Systems and Calibration a plus.
  • 20/20 Vision (corrected) necessary to perform the job – close range, color and depth perception, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 + years of experience as an inspector in a mechanical or electronic environment preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of precision hand tools such as: Dial Indicators, Calipers, and Micrometers. Experience with XRF X-Ray, Optical Comparator, Optical Measuring Systems and Calibration a plus.
  • 20/20 Vision (corrected) necessary to perform the job – close range, color and depth perception, etc.
  • Computer literacy required – MS Word and Excel (Access database experience a plus).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. ISO 9000 Quality Environment experience is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Good command of the English language is required, as well as ability to communicate (written and verbal) with all levels of the Company and Customer personnel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic technical math required.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to maintain proficiency under pressure while maintaining good organizational skills.

CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) preferred.
