Quality Control Inspector

Position Summary
The Quality Control Associate is responsible for ensuring that all control panels and assemblies produced within the Ascend Automation & Controls panel shop meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This role performs inspections, testing, and documentation throughout the build process to ensure adherence to engineering specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards such as UL508A and NEC.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final inspections of control panels, wiring, and components to ensure compliance with drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Conduct electrical testing including continuity checks, point-to-point verification, voltage checks, and functional testing
- Support and/or execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for completed panels prior to shipment
- Identify, document, and communicate non-conformances, defects, and rework requirements
- Verify component installation, labeling, wire routing, and termination quality
- Ensure compliance with UL508A, NEC, and internal QA/QC standards
- Maintain accurate inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation
- Collaborate with panel builders, engineers, and supervisors to resolve quality issues and improve processes
- Assist in developing and maintaining quality procedures, checklists, and inspection criteria
- Promote and adhere to shop safety standards and best practices
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in quality control, electrical assembly, or control panel fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
- Familiarity with industrial control panels, PLC systems, and instrumentation
- Working knowledge of UL508A standards preferred
- Experience using electrical test equipment(multimeter, megger, continuity tester, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to identify problems and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field
- Experience in an EPC, automation, or panel fabrication environment
- Exposure to AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar tools
- Knowledge of quality systems, audits, and continuous improvement practices
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods in a shop environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work with tools and equipment
- Comfortable working around energized equipment (with proper safety procedures)
