Job description

The QC Inspector is responsible for performing manual dimensional inspection of incoming, in-process, first-piece, and final product to verify conformance to drawings, customer specifications, work order requirements, and internal quality standards. This role is responsible for accurate inspection documentation, proper NCR initiation, product identification verification, and required engraving or stamping activities.

The QC Inspector is a hands-on inspection role focused on confirming product conformance and identifying nonconforming conditions before product is released.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Dimensional Inspection
  • Perform incoming, in-process, first-piece, and final inspections as assigned by the Quality Manager.
  • Inspect parts using current drawings, ballooned drawings, work order requirements, customer specifications, and approved inspection methods.
  • Use manual inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, indicators, and other approved measuring equipment.
  • Verify that parts meet dimensional, visual, identification, and customer requirements before release.
  • Communicate inspection issues, unclear requirements, or nonconforming conditions to the Quality Manager immediately.
Inspection Documentation
  • Complete all required inspection documentation accurately and on time.
  • Record inspection results in ProShop or other approved systems as required.
  • Ensure inspection records are complete, legible, traceable, and tied to the correct job, part number, revision, and work order.
  • Attach or provide supporting inspection evidence when required.
  • Maintain proper time tracking by clocking in and out of ProShop as required.
NCR Initiation and Product Control
  • Identify and document nonconforming product.
  • Initiate NCRs in ProShop with clear descriptions, accurate details, photos when needed, and proper supporting evidence.
  • Properly tag, identify, and segregate nonconforming product according to internal procedures.
  • Support containment activities and reinspection of reworked product.
  • Provide inspection evidence to the Quality Manager for disposition and customer NCR response when required.
Engraving, Stamping, and Part Marking
  • Perform required engraving, stamping, or part marking when specified by the work order, drawing, customer requirement, or internal procedure.
  • Verify marking content before applying it, including part number, revision, serial number, lot number, heat number, or other required identifiers.
  • Confirm marking location, legibility, permanence, and traceability before final release.
  • Document and elevate incorrect, missing, illegible, or improperly located markings as required.
  • Maintain engraving, stamping, and marking tools in clean and usable condition.
Measuring Equipment Use and Care
  • Use only calibrated and approved measuring equipment.
  • Verify calibration status before using measuring tools.
  • Protect measuring equipment from damage, misuse, or contamination.
  • Report damaged, questionable, missing, or out-of-calibration tools to the Quality Manager or QA Technician.
  • Maintain assigned tools and inspection equipment in clean and proper working condition.
QC Room Organization and Safety
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe QC work area.
  • Keep the QC room free of unnecessary obstacles, debris, and uncontrolled product.
  • Follow internal safety, quality, and housekeeping expectations.
  • Support a professional inspection environment that promotes accuracy, discipline, and accountability.
TOOLS & SYSTEMS
  • ProShop ERP - primary platform for NCR disposition tracking, inspection data, job travelers, and quality records
  • AS9100 Rev D QMS documentation - inspection procedures, control plans, work instructions, and quality records
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of quality inspection experience in a precision CNC machining or aerospace/defense manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • Experience using manual inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, bore gauges, and indicators.
  • Ability to complete accurate inspection documentation.
  • Ability to identify and document nonconforming product accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Ability to perform engraving, stamping, or part marking according to work order and customer requirements.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems for quality recordkeeping - ProShop experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills - able to manage a high-volume inspection queue without losing accuracy or traceability
