Job summary

Lightera, a global leader in optical fiber and connectivity, seeks a Quality Control Inspector for our Avon, CT division. The role focuses on incoming and final inspections of precision materials used in aerospace, defense, and medical industries, ensuring conformance to specifications.

• Product release and issuance of certificates, waivers, or production discrepancies.
• Database entry for quality and manufacturing using MS Access and JDEdwards.
• Assist in registrar, customer and internal audits as needed.
• Support resolution of customer complaints and RMAs.
• File and maintain Quality Records and MRB minutes.
• Record and file CPARs and non-conforming material.
• Support ISO system and data gathering.

We’re looking for a Quality Control Inspector to join our division located in Avon, CT, to help our Quality department ensure customer satisfaction by supporting the organizations’ quality goals and objectives with a primary focus on incoming and outgoing inspection of products. Be a critical part of the team inspecting precision material used in aerospace, defense, and medical industries.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Incoming inspection and verification of purchased parts and raw materials to documented requirements and specifications.
• Final verification of manufactured product to documented requirements and specifications.
• Product release and issuance of various certificates, waivers, or production related discrepancies.
• Database entry for both quality and manufacturing, working with JDEdwards, as well as our Manufacturing, and Quality Database.
• Assist in registrar, customer and internal audits as needed.
• Support the resolution of customer complaints and RMA’s when requested.
• File and maintain company Quality Records.
• Record and file Material Review Board (MRB) minutes.
• Problem resolution (CPARs, non-conforming material, etc)
• Microsoft Access Quality database activities (Certificates of Compliance, Incoming, Waivers, etc.)
• Supporting our ISO System, and gathering data as needed.

Key Qualifications Include

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-5 years experience in a Quality or industry-related role.
• Inspection or process/assembly experience in a high technology environment involving small parts, microscopes, mechanical gauges (examples: calipers, digital micrometers, comparators), and other inspection /measurement tools or the aptitude/ability to learn.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings/blueprints, specifications, and ISO procedures.
• Attention to detail, drive for accuracy and highly organized.
• Basic Computer / PC knowledge – ability to use MS 365 applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
• Knowledge of and experience in an ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or AS9100 based manufacturing environment preferred.
