Job summary

Form Energy is seeking an Analytical Development Engineer to develop and validate analytical methods ensuring the performance, safety, and reliability of battery components. Qualifications

  • 5+ years of quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced understanding of measurement system analysis, sampling plans, hypothesis testing, and calibration.
  • Structured problem-solving (8D) and analytical skills, including strong technical skills in DOE and Process Capability (Cp, Cpk, Ppk).
  • Experience with ISO9001, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to identify where analytical methods are needed to control processes and reduce variability.
  • Build and document end-to-end development workflows for new analytical methods, including scoping, experimental design, optimization, validation, and production readiness.
  • Maintain and improve the training program for new analytical methods, ensuring technicians and engineers are fully qualified.
  • Partner with the Lab Manager to diagnose instrument excursions, performance drift, and maintenance issues.
  • Serve as a technical leader in root-cause investigations and corrective-action efforts for production issues.

Role Description

Form Energy is seeking an Analytical Development Engineer to develop and validate analytical methods that ensure the performance, safety, and reliability of battery components. You will create robust, datadriven methods that support product qualification, rootcause investigations, and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to prioritize method development, reduce measurementsystem error, and strengthen Control and Response Plans for production in FF1. This handson role directly impacts production readiness and product quality. You will also support rootcause and correctiveaction efforts for emerging production issues and help align analytical strategies across sites.

What you'll do:
  • Interface with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to identify where new or improved analytical methods are needed to control processes, reduce variability, and enable better business decisions.
  • Build and document endtoend development workflows for new analytical methods, including scoping, experimental design, optimization, validation, and readiness for production use.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the training program for new analytical methods, ensuring technicians and engineers are fully qualified and methods are executed consistently across sites.
  • Partner with the Lab Manager to diagnose and resolve instrument excursions, performance drift, and maintenance issues that impact method reliability.
  • Serve as a technical leader in rootcause investigations and correctiveaction efforts for production issues, using analytical data to drive problem resolution and prevent recurrence.
What you'll bring:
  • 5+ years of quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced understanding of measurement system analysis, sampling plans, hypothesis testing, and calibration
  • Structured problem-solving (8D) and analytical skills, including strong technical skills in statistical tools, Design of Experiments (DOE), Process Capability (Cpk, Ppk), etc.
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while remaining detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Experienced in ISO9001, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar fields is a plus
Where you'll work:

This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV-an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing.
