The Chemist is responsible for day-to-day quality testing of raw materials, in-process evaluations, and final product testing. Perform maintenance and calibration of instrumentation. The Chemist may also assist in the research analysis, synthesis, and experimentation on substances, for such purposes as product and process development and application, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and improvement of analytical methodologies. Support general laboratory upkeep, inventory and cleanliness
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality:
• Assist in daily hands-on quality control testing, and produce Certificates of Analysis.
• Perform testing of outside materials in collaboration with the Laboratory Manager, and as needed.
• Evaluate current protocols, and write new ones as needed.
• Maintain and support instrumentation.
• Address quality issues with vendors and customers and execute corrective actions.
• Implement and update quality programs for the company (cGMP, ISO, GDP, GLP, etc.) as directed by management.
R&D:
• Develop new test methods and tests in support of the lab, R&D, and new product development.
• Validate new test methods to ensure they meet quality standards for uniformity and consistency.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical engineering.
• Experience with wet chemical techniques such as Karl-Fischer titrations and iodometric titrations, and instrumental techniques such as UV/Vis, FTIR, HPLC, IC, GC, and GC/MS
