Job summary

IFF is a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients, and health & biosciences. The on-site role in Holmdel, New Jersey, supports quality and fragrance development with laboratory analyses and documentation.

You will perform sensory and analytical testing, prepare samples, record results, and maintain SAP data while collaborating with a detail-oriented team to ensure GMP compliance and product excellence.

Qualifications

• Degree in Cosmetics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform sensory, appearance, and color analysis of raw materials and fragrances in the Sample Lab.
• Prepare samples and perform GC, density, refractive index, CIE Lab color, and flash point testing.
• Record sensory and analytical results and create fragrance specifications in the system.
• Issue certificates of analysis and maintain technical documentation.
• Support sample library management, shipping procedures, GMP procedures, and SAP data maintenance.
• Maintain QC equipment with regular cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Communicate with internal customers to support quality, documentation, and sample needs.
• Assist investigations of quality deviations and implement corrective actions when required.

Where You\'ll Make a Difference

• Perform sensory, appearance, and color analysis of raw materials used in the Creative Center, by customers, and in fragrances produced by the Sample Lab.
• Prepare samples and perform laboratory analyses, including gas chromatography, density, refractive index, CIE Lab color, and flash point testing for fragrances produced by the Sample Lab.
• Record sensory and analytical results with accuracy and create fragrance specifications in the system.
• Issue technical documentation, including certificates of analysis.
• Support administrative activities such as sample library management, shipping target procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices procedures, and SAP data maintenance.
• Perform regular maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting of quality control equipment, including gas chromatography equipment, Ismatec tubes, and flash point equipment.
• Communicate effectively with internal customers to support quality, documentation, and sample-related needs.
• Support investigations of quality deviations and assist in implementing corrective actions when required.

What Makes You the Right Fit

• Degree in Cosmetics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related field.
• Laboratory testing experience or strong interest in quality control laboratory activities.
• Ability to perform routine analytical and sensory testing with attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow established procedures.
• Strong scheduling, planning, and task management skills.
• Commitment to safety practices for people, products, and equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Comfort working with automated systems and digital task management tools.
• Ability to read English and communicate clearly in writing and verbally.

How Would You Stand Out?

• Experience with fragrance, cosmetics, flavors, or related laboratory environments.
• Familiarity with gas chromatography, flash point testing, refractive index, density, or color analysis.
• Experience using SAP or maintaining technical data in quality or laboratory systems.
