Job summary

Silgan Plastics is seeking a production QC/packer role to support multiple bottle lines. You will prepare first piece reports, perform hourly quality checks, and conduct line audits while collecting hourly samples. You will maintain accurate spec sheets and assist with new equipment testing and training.

The position requires lifting up to 40 pounds, good reading/writing skills, and dependable attendance in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

  • Back-up QC Inspector experience or qualification as Packer/Selector if no backups available.
  • Good attendance and dependability in current position.
  • Good reading and writing skills.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds continuously.
  • Work involves lifting, bending, reaching and twisting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare First Piece Reports for each line running.
  • Perform hourly quality checks.
  • Line audit while collecting hourly samples.
  • Keep spec sheets organized and up to date.
  • Audit blank bottle finished goods lines in Production.
  • Daily plant walk through to identify issues (visual).
  • Perform last shot measurement and visual analysis.
  • Ensure accuracy of information going to the production floor (pick lists and stickers).
  • New projects—test and measure.
  • Training on AVBIS and new equipment usage.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment following safety rules and procedures.

Job description

  • Responsible for preparing First Piece Reports for each line running.
  • Responsible for doing ink color checks.
  • Responsible for all special testing required by procedures.
  • Responsible for doing overflows as required.
  • Required to perform hourly quality checks.
  • Required to line audit while collecting hourly samples and in any free time.
  • Required to keep spec sheets in their proper place, filing away old ones and putting new ones in their appropriate place.
  • Responsible for auditing any blank bottle finished goods lines in Production.
  • Daily plant walk through to identify issues. (visual)
  • Perform last shot measurement and visual ANALYSIS
  • Ensure that information going out to the production floor is correct. (Pick lists and stickers)
  • New Projects-test and measure
  • Customer Focus
  • Training-AVBIS training and New Equipment Usage
  • Evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
  • Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts/conditions.
  • Effectively use verbal and written communications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Perform sweeping, cleaning, sorting duties as necessary.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

SKILLS:

Required: Must have been qualified back-up QC Inspector or a qualified Packer/Selector if no back-ups are available. Must have good attendance, must have shown dependability in current position, and must have good reading and writing skills. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds continuously throughout the shift. Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching and twisting.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable):

This position requires the cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Mechanical Aptitude a plus.
