About the role

Key Job Accountabilities

As part of the Quality Team, you'll be responsible for...

  • Serve as the backup SQF Practitioner for Food Safety & ISO Management Representative.
  • Act as HACCP Team backup & support monthly audits & food safety compliance activities.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in maintaining compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements, food safety regulations, and quality management systems.
  • Demonstrate continuous vigilance and active participation in GMP, SQF, and quality system initiatives.
  • Prevent nonconforming products from being shipped by identifying, documenting, investigating, and resolving product, process, and quality system issues.
  • Initiate and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate nonconformities and reduce the risk of recurrence.
  • Support process, product, and test method validation activities by developing, executing, and documenting protocols for new and existing processes.
  • Evaluate and implement new measurement techniques and quality tools to improve process repeatability, reproducibility, and overall product quality.
  • Analyse quality and production data and present findings to site management to identify improvement opportunities, focus areas, and performance trends.
  • Facilitate statistical analysis and continuous improvement projects using tools such as SPC, CpK analysis, defect trending, complaint trending, and machine capability studies.
  • Assist in the administration and functionality of SPC data collection systems, and automated quality measurement equipment.
  • Engage employees in problem-solving activities, root cause analysis, and risk assessments to improve product quality and operational performance.
  • Lead or assist with customer complaint investigations & verification of corrective actions.
  • Recommend, implement, and verify the effectiveness of continuous improvement initiatives for products, processes, and quality systems.
  • Drive the continual improvement of plant processes and quality procedures while reducing Total Incident Costs (TICs) and supporting EBITDA objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with customers to understand quality expectations and support future projects and initiatives.
  • Serve as an internal audit team member and support audit preparation, execution, and follow-up activities as needed.
  • Promote and enforce all plant safety rules, GMP policies, ISO standards, SQF requirements, and Quality Management System procedures.
  • Assist with emergency situations & provide directions to team members when necessary.
  • Support and participate in 5S initiatives and workplace organization projects to improve efficiency, safety, and operational effectiveness.
  • Follow all departmental procedures, policies, and directives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Engineering or related field of study.
    • Or equivalent combination of training and relevant work experience.
Skills/Experience:
  • Three years of experience in Quality.
  • Understanding of Quality programs, Six Sigma & audit procedures for ISO, SQF & HACCP.
  • Working knowledge of customer audits, product line, and requirements.
  • Proven ability to identify & prioritize major areas of opportunity & take appropriate actions.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Travel as needed.

  • PPE Required -Requirements are proper hearing protection, safety glasses (prescription if required), steel-toed shoes, hairnet, and beard net.
