Walman Optical in Omaha, NE is seeking a Quality Auditor I for the 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 3pm - 11pm). This role focuses on production/finished product inspection and quality control for surfaced and edged Rx work.

You will read a Lensometer, interpret Rx requirements, and ensure first-quality outcomes, while supporting lab supervisors. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 3 years of production experience, and knowledge of ANSI eyewear standards.

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years of production experience.
  • Knowledge of ANSI standards applicable to eyewear is required.
  • Have a near vision capability to 20/40 max with/without corrective prescription eyewear.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Read and demonstrate excellent skills in reading of a Lensometer and interpreting results.
  • Interpret customers’ Rx requirements and work tickets in lab software/operating system.
  • Recognize and ensure a First-Quality Rx with regard to cosmetics and alignment.
  • Understand special requirements of specific laboratory customers for product delivery.
  • Serve as quality advisor to production supervisors and lab management.
  • Troubleshoot production problems within area of responsibility to maintain quality and service levels.
  • Maintain compliance with procedures, calibration, Rx cosmetics, form/fit of product.
  • Keep work area neat, clean and organized.
  • Follow attendance and safety rules and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Provide training and guidance for less experienced employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

GENERAL FUNCTION

The Quality Auditor I is responsible for production/finished product inspection and quality control for all surfaced &/or cut and edge Rx work.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform and demonstrate excellent skills in reading of a Lensometer and interpreting results and findings.
  • Demonstrate ability to interpret customers’ Rx requirements and have total understanding of the production work ticket as produced via lab software/operating system.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of all surface and finish activities and production tasks and ability to recognize and effect a “First-Quality” Rx with regards of product cosmetics and alignment.
  • Understand special or unique requirements of specific laboratory customers regarding product to be delivered.
  • Serve as “quality advisor” to production supervisors and lab management and as required by Regional Operations Manager.
  • Effectively troubleshoot all facets of production problems within area of responsibility to bring about acceptable production quality and service levels.
  • Assure compliance with Network Operations Uniform Processing System procedures, including, but not limited to, calibration, Rx cosmetics, form/fit of product, et.al.
  • Maintain work area in a neat, clean, and organized condition.
  • Understand and follow all company and manufacturer’s policies and procedures and ensure compliance with all attendance & safety rules and regulations. Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary information.
  • Willingly assist others as necessary to keep work current, meet deadlines or maintain an even workload. Cooperate with production supervisors and other employees and demonstrate a good attitude. Perform an acceptable quantity and quality of work on time as required.
  • Provide proper training, work direction, and technical guidance for less experienced employees. Attend in-house or sponsored training meetings when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • This position requires exposure to one or more hazardous substances/chemicals which requires safety training.
