Job summary

America's Heartland Packing is seeking a QA Technician to ensure product safety, quality, and compliance from harvest to grind floor. You will monitor procedures, perform audits, collect samples, and document results to support USDA dispositions.

Responsibilities include GMP/SOP logging, pre-op checks, sanitary dressing inspections, and data analysis to identify corrective actions. Strong English communication is required, with preferred Spanish ability.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work in varied temperatures with PPE.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (speak, read, and write).

  • Rotate tasks including animal welfare, sampling, quality inspections, temperature checks, and grade changes.
  • Monitor floor compliance with food safety and quality procedures; report deficiencies and take corrective actions.
  • Complete GMP, SSOP, and SOP logs accurately and maintain documentation.
  • Conduct pre-op/condensation/swabs and sanitary dressing inspections.
  • Aid production to retain proper product for USDA dispositions and perform finished product inspections.
  • Collect samples for lab analysis and conduct animal welfare audits; intervene on deviations.
  • Record inspection data and interpret results against specifications; propose preventative actions.
  • Interact with USDA as needed and follow all safety and operational protocols.

Overview

Job Summary QA technicians are responsible for ensuring product safety, quality, and compliance on the harvest, fabrication, and grind floor through monitoring, auditing, and documenting any conformities and nonconformities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Job requires rotation of tasks (animal welfare, sampling, quality inspections, chemical concentration checks, sanitary dressing audits, temperatures, box tare weights, sampling, and grade changes).
  • Monitor the implementation and compliance of all food safety and quality procedures on the floor, report deficiencies, take corrective action, and follow up.
  • Review and accurately complete required paperwork (GMP checks, SSOP corrective action log, and SOP corrective action log) and be held accountable for accuracy.
  • Conduct pre-op/condensation/swabs.
  • Perform sanitary dressing and zero tolerance inspections in accordance with the written program.
  • Aid production in ensuring proper product is retained for USDA dispositions.
  • Perform finished product inspections to ensure conformance to specifications and collect samples to be sent to lab for analysis.
  • Conduct animal welfare audits and immediately act on any deviations from robust humane handling program.
  • Use production specification reports to gather, measure, analyze, and record inspection data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, and quantities inspected or graded.
  • Interact with USDA as needed.
  • Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, investigate, and take corrective action, make recommendations on preventative measures, and document findings.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English (speak, read, and write).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to effectively communicate in Spanish (speak, read, and write).
  • Strong project and time management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Prior production experience in a USDA inspected beef, pork, or poultry facility.
  • Work history in the last 12 months.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and ability to monitor and take action to enforce for all food safety, SQF rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), Sanitization Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs),
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), pre-requisite programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to attend work consistently.
  • Ability to work safely, wear PPE, and follow safety rules.
  • Display a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Be adaptable and dependable with the ability to follow direction and work in cooperation with others.
  • Be attentive to detail.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Follow all food safety and SQF rules.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be assertive and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform consistent, accurate work with minimal direction and work successfully as part of a team.

Summary

America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
