Nuevo Garcia Foods in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to help ensure the safety and quality of all raw and finished products. You will support HACCP, SQF, GMPs and allergen controls, and help maintain regulatory compliance.

Under the direction of the QA Supervisor, you will perform audits, collect data, draft reports, and communicate quality concerns to Production Manager. A high school diploma or higher and at least 1 year in QA in food manufacturing are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, 18+ years old and valid driver's license.
  • Associates Degree or related experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Quality Assurance in food manufacturing.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Basic math skills and able to read and write in English.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office 365.

Responsabilités

  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain quality standards including GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and allergen controls.
  • Support accurate HACCP and Control Point data collection and record-keeping.
  • Monitor cooking, chilling, and processing activities and identify out-of-spec products.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and testing to maintain quality standards and HACCP plans.
  • Communicate quality and food safety concerns to the Production Manager and QA supervisor.
  • Follow safety and manufacturing processes; complete daily paperwork with supervisor signature.
  • Adhere to policies to ensure regulatory compliance, team safety, and quality programs.
  • Proficient knowledge in basic laboratory equipment and scales.
  • Ability to read and write to draft reports, correspondence, safety rules, and procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across the organization.
  • Show ownership, responsibility, good judgment, initiative, and adaptability.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing environment; detail oriented with organization.
  • Ability to work independently or with supervision as required; perform other duties as assigned.

The Role

QA Techs perform numerous essential functions to ensure the safety and quality of all raw and finished products used and produced by the plant. QA Techs also adhere to company policies, standard operating procedures, and customer regulations and specifications.

QA Techs are champions of the quality and safety of our products. As a QA Tech and under the direction of the QA Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies by making sure all products meet or exceed all regulatory, company, and customer requirements as they relate to food safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain quality standards, including GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and allergen controls
  • Support accurate HACCP and Control Point data collection and record-keeping
  • Monitor cooking, chilling, and processing activities as well as identifying product that is not within specifications and place in rework bin
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and testing to maintain quality standards and HACCP plans
  • Communicate effectively quality and food safety concerns to Production Manager and/or QA supervisor
  • Follow and communicate safety and manufacturing processes
  • Complete daily paperwork accurately and obtain supervisor signature
  • Adhere to company and department policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations, team member safety, and quality programs
  • Proficient knowledge in basic laboratory equipment and scales
  • Ability to read and write in order to draft reports, business correspondence, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy and procedure manuals
  • Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and foster a positive work environment across all organizational levels
  • Display ownership, responsibility, good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness
  • Ability to change, adapt and work well under pressure in a rapidly changing environment
  • Detail oriented with strong organization and time management skills

  • Perform other duties as assigned
Skills:

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Able to reach with hands and arms and use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Able to climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and stretch for extended periods
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent - At least 18 years old and a valid driver's license
  • Associates Degree or related experience
  • A minimum of 1 years' experience in Quality Assurance in Food Manufacturing
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus
  • Basic math skills and able to read and write in English functionally
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office 365
Pay: Depends on experience - Starting pay $16.00
