Job summary

Widmer Brothers Portland Brewery, part of Tilray, is seeking a QA Tech to join the team. You will perform QA testing across beer production, packaging materials and chemistry, and maintain lab operations.

The role requires strong lab skills, attention to detail and the ability to work 12-hour shifts in a production environment. A positive, collaborative attitude is essential.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in natural sciences required (Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or Food Sciences).
  • Experience in QC/QA in beverage industry is a plus; packaging line experience helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Support Widmer Brothers Brewing's Vision, Mission and Values.
  • Perform quality assurance testing (daily beer checks, packaging materials, beer chemistry, CO2/air levels, label/finished package quality).
  • Conduct microbiological testing, recording and reporting.
  • Identify problem areas and assist with solving with brewing/maintenance teams.
  • Maintain lab neat and stocked with consumables.
  • Participate in product/process improvement efforts.
  • Run analyses on packaging materials and beer in packaging.
  • Sample collection at various process points.
  • Be a team player focused on production, quality, safety goals.
  • Perform project work as needed.
  • Communicate with all levels of production personnel.
  • Willing to work in production facility and collect samples.
  • Laboratory testing in microbiology & beer chemistry.

As a QA Tech, you will perform various studies and statistical analysis to improve quality throughout the brewery. You will also run routine analyses of packaged beer for oxygen, carbon dioxide, fill level, etc. .Job ResponsibilitiesSupport the Widmer Brother’s Company's Vision, Mission and ValuesPerform necessary quality assurance testing (e.g. daily beer checks, measurements on packaging materials, beer chemistry, beer carbon dioxide and air levels, label and finished package quality, etc).Perform necessary microbiological testing, recording, and reporting.Identify problem areas and contribute to the problem solving process working with brewing and maintenance.Maintain the lab in a neat and orderly condition and ensure a sufficient supply of consumable materials.Participate in ongoing product and process improvement efforts.Run routine analyses on packaging materials and beer involved in being packaged.Sample collection at various points during process.A willingness to learn and become part of a small team.Be a team player focused on meeting production, quality, and safety goals.Perform project work as needed.Ability to work and communicate with all levels of Production personnel.Willing to work in a Production facility and collect samples throughout the process.Laboratory testing in microbiology & beer chemistryQualificationsBA/BS in one of the natural sciences.
