Job summary

J.T.M. Food Group is seeking a Quality Assurance Lab Technician / Pre-Op Inspector to support QA operations on 2nd shift (4:00 pm – 1:30 am, Mon–Fri). You will perform calibration verification, pre-op inspections, and swabbing programs to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, manufacturing/QA experience, and knowledge of GMPs, USDA, OSHA and BRC requirements. The role is onsite in a cold facility with a team-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; manufacturing QA experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret Laboratory instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, USDA, OSHA, and BRC requirements.
  • Chemical usage training and hazard communication knowledge.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends.
  • Ability to work in a 36–40°F facility; comfortable in cold environments.

Responsibilities

  • Performs thermometer and scale calibration verification; records results.
  • Conducts pre-operational inspections on complex machinery.
  • Performs ATP swabbing and maintains the program.
  • Performs allergen swabbing and maintains the program.
  • Assists in Environmental swabbing and related tasks.
  • Maintains and organizes fat/moisture test results; logs to required group.
  • Maintains Foreign Materials log and spreadsheet.
  • Reviews APTEAN quality records daily for failures or trends.
  • Reviews records with external auditors within areas of responsibility.
  • Carries out other support functions as required by QA lab techs.

SCOPE - QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN

Provides administrative and clerical support to the QA Department.

Experience And Skill Requirements - Quality Assurance Technician
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food industry
  • Experience in Quality Assurance
  • Ability to read and interpret Laboratory instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of GMP's, USDA, and OSHA regulations and BRC requirements.
  • Must be trained in chemical usage and hazard communication.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends
  • Must be able to work in 36–40-degree temperature facility.
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Skill in using a personal computer and various software applications.
  • Skill in being a self-starter.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • This position is onsite.
PHYSICAL/ENVIROMENTAL FACTORS: - QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN
  • Repetitive hand motions, reaching, and lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Stand and walk on most of the shift.
  • Frequently stoop, kneel, crawl, twist, bend, and lift various weights as needed.
  • Frequently climb ladders, steep inclines, and enter confined spaces.
  • Exposure to cold, humid environments with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees.
  • Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels
  • Exposure to strong odors, including ammonia.
  • Exposure to slippery and wet conditions
