Job summary

Raw Seafoods, Inc. is seeking an experienced QA Tech to ensure safety, quality, and conformance to specifications for all products. You will maintain QC documents, inspect incoming goods, and conduct organoleptic testing while supporting USDA inspections and regulatory compliance.

Role requires strong multitasking, attention to detail, and flexibility for varied shifts. Opportunity to grow within a family-owned company committed to quality seafood and customer support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field or proven proficiency.
  • 3+ years experience in quality or continuous improvement.
  • Experience with allergens, nutrition labels, and government regs.
  • Intermediate computer skills, mainly Microsoft Office/Outlook.
  • Willingness to multitask and adapt; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Quality Control documents and records continuously.
  • Inspect incoming products for quality, safety, and specs.
  • Conduct organoleptic testing on finished and incoming products/ingredients.
  • Monitor the production floor for food safety and employee safety.
  • Perform QC checks and related paperwork in all departments.
  • Allergen testing and swab schedules adherence.
  • Assist USDA inspector with questions and issues as needed.
  • Maintain testing equipment and perform calibrations.
  • Ensure labels meet product specs and government requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA, USDC, FDA, and BRC standards.
  • Update databases/logs with inbound/outbound reports.

We are looking for an experienced QA Tech to join our growing team!

Position overview

To ensure safety, quality, and conformance to specifications of all products produced by Raw Seafoods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain Quality Control documents and records on an ongoing basis
  • Inspect all incoming products for quality, safety, and adherence to specifications
  • Conduct organoleptic testing on finished and incoming products/ingredients
  • Organize and administer product cuttings in the absence of the Sr. Tech
  • Monitor the production floor for food safety and employee safety
  • Perform Quality Control checks and related paperwork in all departments
  • Allergen testing, including testing according to annual, monthly, and weekly swab schedules
  • Accompany USDA inspector throughout plant and assist with all questions or problems that arise, when necessary
  • Maintain testing equipment, and conduct calibrations as needed
  • Check finished product labels to ensure conformance with product specifications and government requirements
  • Compare finished product to specification sheet to ensure it meets customer's requirements
  • Ensure all products meet and exceed standards required by USDA, USDC, FDA, and BRC
  • Immediately identify and notify Sr. Technologist or Supervisor of situations where product does not meet specifications
  • Complete inbound and outbound paperwork associated with incoming and outgoing product
  • Conduct inspections of all manufacturing equipment prior to use
  • Complete metal detector calibrations and corrective actions on a regular basis
  • Oversee that all procedures are followed in accordance to USDA, USDC, FDA, and BRC requirements
  • Update online databases and logs with inbound and outbound reports
  • Provide upper management with thoroughly checked outbound reports for customers
  • Ability to fully monitor the processes of all internal processing lines
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Ensure all incoming products for quality, safety, and specifications are inspected
  • Confirm raw material lots being allocated are complete and accurate to maintain traceability
  • Create and communicate Maintenance Work Orders
  • Complete internal verifications, non-HACCP only
  • Assist QA supervisor with ordering for the QA lab
  • Assist QA supervisor with inventory tracking for the QA lab
  • Assist QA supervisor with projects as needed
  • Other responsibilities w/similar skill and work conditions as assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities)
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Biological Sciences or related discipline. Or a combination of work experience and education which proves proficiency in the field
  • Or 3+ Years Previous experience in Quality or Continuous Improvement
  • Experience and understanding of food ingredients, nutritional labels, allergens, and governmental regulations set forth by the USDC, USDA, and FDA preferred
  • Experience with allergen swabs, testing, and all related tasks preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills, primarily Microsoft and outlook
  • Must be able to multitask effectively and problem solve
  • Must maintain a flexible schedule; weekends, early mornings, and late nights may be required as needed
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all departments
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in cold environments
