Strive Pharmacy is a personalized compounding pharmacy focused on patient-centered care in Gilbert, AZ. The Quality Assurance Supervisor will lead the QA team, ensure GDP/USP compliance, and maintain documentation and batch-release processes across the site.

This onsite role emphasizes hands-on leadership, cross-department collaboration, and continuous improvement in a GMP-regulated environment. You will oversee audits, CAPAs, and quality metrics while guiding staff through daily QA activities.

Qualifications

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Supervisor provides day-to-day tactical oversight and direct supervisory support for site-specific quality activities, ensuring full compliance with Strive Pharmacy’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), product specifications, and applicable state and federal regulatory standards. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, this position oversees the routine operations of the site QA team, including documentation review, batch record auditing, label reconciliation, and non-conformance tracking. The QA Supervisor acts as a hands-on leader to support continuous improvement, promote cleanroom compliance, and ensure seamless communication between floor operations, compounding personnel, and Quality leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Supervision & Coaching: Supervise the daily activities of the site QA team (e.g., QA Specialists/Technicians), including scheduling, workload distribution, timecard approval, and initial performance feedback. Assist with candidate interviews, facilitate onboarding, deliver hands-on competency training, and lead daily cross-departmental huddles.
• Documentation & Compliance Auditing: Perform detailed, routine audits of compounding, production, cleaning, environmental monitoring, and validation records (including media fills and BMS/temperature alarms) for compliance with GDP and USP <795>/<797>/<800>/<1163> standards. Assist in reviewing routine equipment calibration and preventive maintenance logs.
• Material & Label Accountability: Oversee routine physical and electronic labeling verification, line clearances, and reconciliation processes. Monitor supplier qualification documentation and verify incoming raw materials against approved vendor lists.
• Quality Systems Support: Triage initial customer complaints and assist in gathering data for adverse drug event reporting. Perform initial investigations for deviations, non-conformances, and CAPA tasks in coordination with QA Specialists. Assist in managing sample staging and tracking for third-party analytical testing.
• Internal Audits & Metrics Tracking: Support site preparation and documentation retrieval during external regulatory, partner, or client audits. Conduct routine internal compliance walkthroughs of compounding and storage areas. Collect, track, and log weekly site quality metrics and trend data for manager review.
• Site Authority & Escalation: Serve as first-line authorization for routine product/component staging and release based on verified testing results. Hold the authority and responsibility to temporarily pause floor operations and immediately elevate to the QA Manager or Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) when immediate quality, safety, or compliance risks are identified.

Required Qualifications

• Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a quality assurance, quality control, or manufacturing role within a pharmaceutical compounding, medical device, or allied health science environment.
• Technical Expertise: Proven hands-on experience in aseptic operations and cleanroom environments, with strong foundational knowledge of core QA practices (documentation review, batch release, line clearances, and basic deviation handling).
• Core Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and digital Quality Management Systems (QMS). Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Physical & Environmental: Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, and occasionally lift up to 45 pounds. Ability to work in controlled cleanroom environments, fully gown in required PPE, and tolerate controlled cleanroom temperatures and background noise.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related scientific discipline.
• Leadership Experience: Prior experience serving as a team lead, senior specialist, or shift supervisor in a pharmaceutical compounding (503A or 503B) or regulated manufacturing setting.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of USP <795>/<797>/<800> standards, cGMP guidelines, and state pharmacy board regulations.
• Audit Experience: Direct involvement in supporting internal or external quality audits.

This position is an onsite role located within the pharmacy facility. The role requires regular periods of sitting, standing, moving between pharmacy and cleanroom areas, and computer use, with occasional lifting up to 45 pounds.
