Dessert Holdings is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor to join our team in Newburyport, MA. The role supervises QA Technicians and coordinates quality activities to maintain a robust food safety and quality management system, with emphasis on customer expectations and continuous improvement.

The position requires knowledge of SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices to ensure safety and quality of products, along with strong leadership to support operations and audits across the business.

Qualifications

• BS degree or equivalent in a food manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily activities of QA Technicians, and coaches, trains, and supports the QA team to support business growth.
• Provides guidance regarding quality and food safety issues to Operations and QA teams.
• Communicates daily with FSQA Techs regarding production schedule and QA issues.
• Maintains inventory of QC/lab supplies and coordinates training from suppliers or new equipment purchased.
• Reviews and organizes operational paperwork on a daily basis.
• Supports internal and third-party audits (customer, regulatory, GFSI) and participates in inspections; analyzes results and deficiencies found.
• Assists with activities of hold, trace, & recall program; summarizes Hold reports.
• Oversees product releases and supports Production Managers during formula changes and product issues.

Dessert Holdings is looking for a QA Supervisor to join our team based in Newburyport, MA. This individual will be responsible for the supervision of all daily production floor activities as it relates to quality. This position will coordinate quality activities and provide leadership to ensure an effective food safety and quality management system is maintained. Provide technical support with an emphasis on customer expectations, continuous improvement opportunities, and productivity requirements. This position is responsible for the supervision of all daily production floor activities as it relates to quality and QA technicians. This position is also responsible for understanding related Quality Management Systems including SQF, HACCP, and GMP to ensure safety and quality of products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervises daily activities of QA Technicians, and coach, train, and support the QA team to support business growth.
• Provides guidance regarding quality and food safety issues to Operations and QA teams.
• Communicates daily with FSQA Techs regarding production schedule and QA issues.
• Maintain inventory of QC/lab supplies and coordinate training from suppliers or new equipment purchased.
• Reviews and organizes operational paperwork on a daily basis.
• Support the execution of internal and third-party audits (e.g., customer, regulatory, GFSI, etc.) and participate in inspections; analyzing the results and deficiencies found.
• Supports Production Managers, Supervisors and Leads during formula changes and/or product issues.
• Assist with the activities of the company hold, trace, & recall program. Responsible for summarizing Hold reports.
• Assumes some responsibilities of the QA Manager in his/her absence.
• Performs assignments in accordance with established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), policies and procedures.
• Support Operations and other support teams in reducing foreign object contamination.
• Oversee product releases.
• Displays appropriate work ethics in the workplace and group settings which provides a positive influence on the production floor.
• Performs daily product review and customer complaint reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• BS degree or equivalent experience in a food manufacturing environment
• Previous knowledge working in food production Quality Assurance department.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience
• Must have a flexible schedule including working weekends, as necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Maintains good housekeeping and clean work areas in assigned space.
• Follows production dress code standards and maintains good personal hygiene.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is expected to actively participate on the production floor.
• Use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands andarms.
• Stoop, kneel orbend.
• Employee must lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and is required to ask for assistance if weight isexceeded.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 45 pounds and is required to ask for assistance if weight isexceeded.
